Nevertheless, I can't help but find it (somehow) funny that these women who talk about "not needing men" go on a 3-hour trip to purchase artificial representations of male genetilia (or at least what could be perceived of as phallic-like objects).
I guess I don't quite see the irony here. Not needing men (although I've never heard anybody from SASS use this phrase) is quite different from not needing or wanting sexual stimulation. As for the phallic nature of many female-oriented sex toys... the vagina is a tube. Male genitalia notwithstanding, it's the natural shape for female sexual stimulation.
The point is that feminists frequently spout opinions and slogans that make most people double-take and say 'Now wait a second .. this is irrational and radical.' Such statements are not just knee-jerk reactions of a conditioned society either.
"As for the phallic nature of many female-oriented sex toys... the vagina is a tube. Male genitalia notwithstanding, it's the natural shape for female sexual stimulation." Which might as well read that the male penis has the optimal shape for the stimulation of the vagina. (Which is why a lot of dildos are fashioned as a near-perfect but lifeless rip-off of penises.)
While I could be mistaken, I believe that Katherine's point is that college-age feminists (and life-long radicals) are frequently over-the-top and just silly. Not unlike 14-year old Rage Against the Machine fans who quote the lyrics of this band at any given moment and believe themselves to be intellectuals for buying a Sony product.

The point of what? Katherine's post? I read it as the point being that she thought that certain women buying sex toys fashioned after male genitalia was ironic. In any case, if this isn't Katherine's point, I'll assume that she'll tell me so.
I'm curious to find out how you're defining "feminist." You seem to be equating "feminist" with "radical, crazy feminazi", which I disagree with. It's true that some feminists have very crazy ideas, but that can be said of all people. And it hasn't been my experience at all that feminists (by my own definition) in general are irrational and irradical people.
Which might as well read that the male penis has the optimal shape for the stimulation of the vagina. In general, I would agree with that, although people's genitalia have different shapes and different people respond to different stimuli, so I'm not going to go around making

I'll answer the points at random to avoid a quote-fest. In general they do not, but that's to the cultural fashion of circumcision.
To me, a feminist is someone who fights for women's rights. To a more or less sound degree, such as the word 'womyn' which even removes them from 'human.' Which is an irony I appreciate. However: Opinionated college-age anything are usually rather annoying, radical and sometimes hilariously irrational. (raw food -) vegans, gay rights advocates, minority rights advocates, communists, socialists, anarchists and so on. Usually later in life, these people are seasoned by experience. Some grow out of it, others retain their ideals in a more sensible way. Which I can respect.
While it may have been a bit assumptious of me to speak for Katherine (which I appologize to her for) the two of us had a few conversations going that direction. That's what my statement was based on.
Once again, I did not mean offense. I just wanted to state my opinion.
Yeah well your mind will say one thing but your body will say another thing.. Even if you hate men, you cant help that the female body was designed for pleasure from penis lol. Reason i am glad i am not a woman is because i dont have to have periods, otherwise i think Id like to be a lesbian that would rock
