I am currently reading something about the Mayflower and early New England and the Indian wars, and am really quite struck by the combination of civil friendship and outright savagery displayed by the Pilgrims and other colonists and some of the Indian tribes.
Am getting quite impressed with what I read about the founder of Rhode Island though.
The Pirate Queen was only okay. It seemed somewhat sparse on facts, and did a fair bit of speculating. It did make up for that somewhat with giving a good look at the interactions of the local clans with one another as well as giving some good historical perspective - but overall I felt it did more of that than paint a picture of Grace O'Malley.
