To alter a T-shirt for a costume I need a jean/denim wash, in order to fade out some of the T-shirt's color. I have called assorted places around town--Joann's, Michael's, even Wal-Mart and Target--but no luck. Anyone have an idea where to find it? Have also Googled but typing in "jean wash" and "denim wash" mainly gets me listings for stores ( Read more... )

Can't you just bleach the shirt to lighten the color? Or RIT sells a color remover that may work for you, you can buy it at walmart:) Hope that helps:)

Thanks for the links but don't think these will do what I want. Will probably end up making do with the shirt!

I aged the shirt by first soaking it in salted water and 1 tsp of bleach for 3 days. Decided it needed more and put it back in a fresh batch of salted water and 1 tsp bleach for another couple of hours. Washed it twice and put in the sun to dry. You don't want to use too much bleach.
