Y'all recommended a lot of restaurants, and I realized that my priorities might not be similar to other people's, so I'd like to get a bit of reasoning behind the recommendations.

I'm assuming that 1 is bad and 10 is good. Also, I can't speak personally to the quality of Katana's regular dinners, as I've never eaten one, but have been told by other people that they are quite tasty. :-D

Rokko, Sunnyvale. Aside from my recommendation because I was taken there by someone who is known to be rather seriously fond of and knowledgeable about sushi... it's a nice, quiet, clean place, not too small or huge, great service. Wide range of prices from completely reasonable for the staples to pretty darned expensive for nifty, cool stuff. The nigiri was great - lovely textures on tasty, fresh rice. But, as I said, I didn't have anything too daring!

The one down side to Kazoo is that it was not "elegant" dining. It was more like it was geared toward a lunch crowd, but I have not had sushi that good since we were on the Olympic Peninsula.

That was our feeling. ESPECIALLY for sushi that good.

There is a place a client took us out to lunch to once. It is in the vicinity of Lawrence and Steven's Creek(?). In any case, the seating is what was most unique that I remember, shoes off at the table, pebbled under the table and slat type benches. It was certainly very good sushi (8-9 for both nigiri and sashimi). he rools were decent, pricing was a little on the high side, but worth it.
Can anyone help with the name? I will see if my boss remembers where it was...

Kobe on El Camino in Santa Clara is super yummy, good prices and ambiance. (indoor stream and koi pond). If you go on a popular night though, you will have a wait.

Cherry sushi seems to be trying to be a more modern/hip sushi club, it is also on El Camino, closer to Lawrence ExPWY in Santa Clara. The fish is great, the prices reflect it.
