It's over...

I survived IDC (and passed with flying colors). Eight twelve hour days with two days of open water diving in a freakin' wet suit in 42 degree water plus four days in the pool. But it's over. Now I just have to live through IE (the Instructor Exam) and I'll be an official Open Water Instructor ( Read more... )

Congratulations!

I am pretty sure I am not going any further with my diving than where I am now: NAUI Master Diver and AAUS Scientific Diver. There just isn't enough time in the day.

Yeah, but I really do like working with students and hanging out in the shop, getting people into diving. I'm hoping to start doing techie stuff next year when I get all my gear together. I was also thinking about possibly teaching scientific diving at some point, so I figured it was a good fit for me.

That is incredible, and I totally admire you for it. :)

Do you have a drysuit? What kind? (I am shopping around right now.)

No, but I really, really, want one. Diving in the lake was about 42F and that was tooo cold in my 7 mil. I'm thinking of going with a custom sized Viking X-treme (you know that you get a discount if you're a divemaster or up, right? Some of them are pretty substantial, like Zeagle is 20% below dealer or somewhat). If I had more money I'd go with a DUI CF-200. All of the people I dive with dive one or the other and they're big cave/techies.
