Holiday fillathon?

Dec 14, 2011 12:25

We haven't had a fillathon on the meme for a while, and while we do still get amazing prompts we have many equally amazing unfilled ones, and a frustrating mass of WIPs that haven't been updated in months. I can't help but feel that especially the WIP situation is particularly sad ( Read more... )

I'm sorry I'm kind of old and don't understand. What is a fillathon exactly?

A fill marathon - time dedicated to filling (or, in the case of WIPs, updating) instead of leaving new prompts. We used to have official ones, in the time after one part was closed for new prompts and before the next part opened, but it's been a while.

We can't close the meme for new prompts of course (well, the kinkmeme mod could, if people are in favour of a fillathon we could contact the mod and ask), but we could dedicate one week to filling, updating, and in general creating fic for prompts we've meant to work on for ages but never got around to.

I could close part nine (once I figured out how that is), sadly I don't control the others so I can't do much there but I'll email her if people like the idea.

I mean it sounds good, I don't intend to do part 10 for awhile so holiday-eque would be a great idea if other people liked it.

As far as I can tell the mod (you are the current mod then, or kinkmeme helper?) just edits the subject like to include CLOSED (or in this case maybe TEMPORARILY CLOSED), leaves an addendum to the bottom of the post itself (something along the lines of 'This part is temporarily closed to new prompts for the duration of the holiday fill-a-thon I checked, that is how we've spelled it so far, there is even a tag and will be reopened for prompts in January.'), and adds a comment of the same content.

You wouldn't actually do anything to part nine itself as I don't think there's a way to disable comments directly to the post while still allowing comments on other comments, but the mod used to screen new prompts that came in during the fill-a-thon and repost them to the new part (or unscreen) afterwards.

Have you thought about doing a poll to gauge interest? It's sometimes so much easier to check a ticky box than it is to comment, in my experience.
