Let me start with saying I had a rather tough week, heavy workload coupled with about 4 hours or so of sleep every single day. I'm glad it is Friday finally, even though I still have to go to work tomorrow, at least I can have longer hour of sleep tonight. Today didn't start quite well, too. I had planned to go for jogging with my colleagues, but ( Read more... )

lol yea, that's a dilemma of money vs time. I earn quite a lot in this job but the stress comes with it is also quite a lot. I'm also not sure when is the time you consider as your limit; when you're sick or when you're diagnosed with some chronic illness? While I like the job and its flexibility, I don't know if I can endure much longer of this more-than-16-hours of work per day. It's really hard to make a decision haha

It's nice when you end up being able to catch up with someone after a stressful day, it always makes things much better! :D ( ... )

If it's making you sick maybe you should stop then!!! I don't think that doing any job which physically makes you ill is good for you in the long run :( *hugs*

My opinion is that you should stay with the job. I believe the pros far outweigh the cons, and you did mention that your biggest satisfaction was not being able to read. If so, might I suggest carrying the book around instead?

lol yea, i did mention the biggest dissatisfaction was not being able to read, but after i posted this entry, I realized another big problem is I've been having way fewer hours of sleep, which does me no good, brain fog for example... I like the working environment of this job, but if the job is giving me more stress than i can bear, I might quit too. I'll think more about it and see how i can work on time-management so I can get more sleep and reading time...

Thanks for your comment! :)

Is there a reason you can't read during the long lunches? Also, why do you get so little sleep--do you work THAT long hours? Isn't that illegal? O_o

Having good bosses/co-workers is underrated. That is a VERY important thing and makes putting up with a job a lot easier. If you have a bad boss/co-workers, the best job will turn into a nightmare.

The long lunches are really, really a once-in-a-while thing now, though we used to do it quite often before the crazy workload hit us. And the sleep thing, this line involves long hours of researching and report-compiling if you have a complicated report and every report has its due date so you have to burn midnight oil or any resorts you need in order to submit the report on time. It's kinda like doing an assignment, only you're doing it for money. There is this article in our contract that the work requires OT, so I don't think it's illegal since I've signed it. Besides, they might say it's cause you're not efficient enough so you need more time compared to others...

I know having good working environment is really important, which is why i'm still in this office. I'll think more about it and work on the time-management thing. Thanks for your comment :)

Oh, that kind of job. Ouch, I sympathize.

Good luck!
