Yum, I think. Them's endgrain wood shavings.
I thought the way they broke up and turned all lacy between the winter rings was pretty.

I was thinking, it's either peeled ginger, or some kind of insect parts. LOL!

Yay. Yay, yay, yay.
My dad is a cabinet maker and has a huge shop at home. So seeing this brings back memories of that very evocative warm-wood sawdusty smell. Which I hated my whole life, btw, along with the sound of saws. Now it makes me all misty.

I love that smell.
Also, I have a bag of shavings here that sometimes I'll pull a handfull out of to put a match to. It burns clean and leaves a nice woody smell.
