SO today was actually pretty good. 1st block was theory... I sang and then worked on my fanfare. I surprised myself by not sucking at signtsinging like I usually do, although it was still by mo means good, but I'm worried about my fanfare; I feel like it's heading toward a brick wall ( Read more... )

I used to have a really difficult time with sight singing, so what made it easier, was sight reading for marimba, but seeing as though I am sure you do it all the time, it may not work as well for you. I think what I did was play the beginning note and then think of what the next note might be(I mean try to listen to the next note in my head...if that makes any sense). Then I would play that note, if I was wrong then I would start from the beginning till I memorized that interval, then I would move onto the next note. I would do the same thing over and over again on different songs. But I dont know, it might be different for you. Basically I was just trying to memorize intervals...

Well, sightreading is a whole different animal.. I can barely do that. I actually have my intervals down very well, but the problem is actually making my voice go to the different pitches... oh and solfegging or whatever the spelling is

Ahhh, yeah I figured it would be different for you. And solfegge really isnt that bad, somtimes, I have actually found that it doesnt work for me, it just gives me one more thing to think about and concentrate on so I just think about intervals.
