So much for being a good student this semester. I'm supposed to be in Mandarin tutorial right now. (It's the first week so there's a chance there's no tutorial, but I highly doubt that, it's a full-year course.) Sage wanted breakfast and then I got more than I could finish in time for class. *sigh

I remember reading a well known story years after it first came out. People talked it up a lot way back when. I thought it was only so-so. I'd read the premise so many times before that fic, so it didn't thrill me. It might have actually spawned most of the fics I'd read with the same basic plot.
Some stories do hold up well. It's really hit or miss.

I know what you mean about the hit/miss. I went around reading -everything- back when I first entered the fandom. And then stopped for a few years. Then tried to go and catch up on what I missed. I'm hoping for more hits than misses though.

It was Promises Under the Influence. Not a bad story, but by the time I'd read it, I'd already read a lot of similar stories. It didn't have the punch that it probably had for people who read it right when it came out.

I've been reading fic too, and I'm close to finishing another one by the same author who did The Wedding Planner (that I talked to you about) I can't wait to finish it, and I will, after this class. If my student would show up. It's 17 minutes late. I wish I had it in me to cut his time. GRRRR.
yay reading fic!!! and I wonder what MoR fic it was...? share please?

I hate when my last student is late or their parents come and pick them up late. I have no excuse to kick them out. Booo. Our students suck.
Lol, maybe I should make a mini summary of which I liked in the earlier contests for you?
