Here's a method I always use when I make borders. I think PS should be able to do something similar to it.
1. Make a new raster layer and flood fill in the color you want the border to be. 2. Select the entire canvas and go over to Contract. 3. Set the pixels to 1 and click OK. 4. Click on Cut and there's the border.
Got the raster layer thing and select the entire canvas, but where's 'contract'? I can't find it on my menus; unless I'm not looking in the right places....
Well, this is the image I made with your tutorial (I edited it to work with my picture) and the border I made in GIMP, though I figured out a way to do that same border in Photoshop. (I love how the icon turned out, by the way)
I'd still like to know how you made the border on your icons; because those are some pretty cool borders. ^_^

How do you do one? I can't seem to find a way to make them in Photoshop sadly (though I know there's a way).
