Tutorial 03 - Sakura
In honor of the community's new layout, I made a tutorial!
Take this into
in PSP9.
Step 1
First I start off with the base from a picture I took from Aethereality. I played around with the Brightness&Contrast and Saturation to make it a little colorful before moving on.
Step 2
Use this gradient by crumblingwalls and set it to Lighten at opacity 50.
Step 3
Use this gradient by ??? and set it to Soft Light.
Step 4
It looks too pink to my liking so I duplicate the base and bring to the top. Desaturate this layer and then use Gaussian Blur on 3. Then set it to Soft Light. See, now the icon has a nice glow to it.
Step 5
Next use this light texture made by fluffypink_lana and set it to Screen. I mirrored it since the texture covered Sakura's face.
Step 6
Add another light texture, this time by angel_elf_icons and set the layer to Screen.
Optional
All that's left to do is the border and text, though both are optional. For the border, create a new raster layer and flood fill in white. Go to Select All, then Contract and set the Number of Pixels to 2. Hit Delete and only a thick white outline should remain.
Create another raster layer and choose whatever color you'd like. I chose #c598e3, a nice pale purple taken from the Dropper Tool, and flood fill the layer in the color of your choosing. Next do the same as the previous step, but the Number of Pixels is changed to 1. Hit Delete to get the border.
Again, adding text is optional. The "Dream of" were used under Times New Roman size 8. Lainie Day size 18 was used for "love."
