Life Unexpected
So, I went to work this morning...resisting the urge to stay in bed on pain killers. My dad called me at work to see how I was feeling, only to tell me that my grandfather was going to see an oncologist today. Since when did he have CANCER!?! What a way to tell me. I had to go back to the ER for my neck and back pain this afternoon. Only to go rounds with the financial, "why don't you have insurance" nazi, essentially told her to screw off. MY dad called while I was waiting on my x-rays, only to tell me that it was cancer, it was too late to treat. I waited 2 hrs for my x-ray results, only to have a nurse give me prescriptions and try to send me on my way. I asked about the results of the X-rays and come to find out I have had an inverted lumbar in my neck...umm...okay...since when?!? I asked for an excuse for the appointment for my supervisor...at which she gave me a slip which said I wasn't to return to work until I was released from a physician's care. So, I have to follow up again, with a doctor that is going to charge me full price b/c I don't have insurance, I have strained muscles in my neck and back, and I can't work...my boss is going to love it....oh..did I mention, after leaving the hospital, my dad called, said the docs changed their minds, they are admitting my grandfather to a cancer center in Pittsburgh next week and want to try to do surgery. Oh, what a lovely day it has been.
