I’ve always really liked this episode, which for some reason was cut from the WB lineup (why, Nelvajerks? It’s featuring Christmas, a nice safe western holiday!) Like Sakura said, it feels ‘warm’. After the raw pain of Meilin’s heartbreak, this is a welcome change in tone ( ... )

When she mentally recites her list of gift recipients, I was sort of hoping she would list Li. Then I was hoping that the one she ‘forgot’ was him, but it wasn’t. How come it doesn’t cross her mind until they meet?

I love how he keeps headwalling and headdesking over his inability to say something to her. Just writing her name on the board makes him go, Dammit, I suck. And his little smile when he hears that Meiling wrote "my precious friend" on Sakura's letter. Where is the love for all the little Syaoran moments in this episode?

Touya: Here, a Christmas present. You really have long hair, right? You see, I kind of have an Oedipal thing for long hair.

Dude, he so does. Poor Nakuru; she's got the moon aura and the long hair and still can't win him over. You overplayed your hand, girlie.

And of course, the symbolism behind Eriol and Sakura playing the hymn together is too obvious to mention,

This song always sounds vaguely like "Somewhere Out There" to me. /old

And look at how Touya's instincts are bristling when he hears Li Syaoran's name and learns he's sent sweet little sis a card.

Has anyone ever translated the cards for those of us who are too stupid to read them?

And of course Touya immediately leaves the shrine and misses out on Tomoyo's epic hairstyle and a chance to interact with Sonomi, because WE CAN'T HAVE THAT.

I don't really care for this episode as a whole, but the Sonomi/Fujitaka scene is the highlight.

Even Kero knows what's going on with Yue, but why won't he just say something to sakura? What possible point could there be in keeping it a secret from her? You know, if ever there was a time for Touya to go to Sakura and Kero and say, "Look, it's been fun pretending I don't know what's up with you guys, but shit is starting to get very real", this was it ( ... )
