4 days, Hyun-Ah thinks dully. 4 days is all it took to get Jaebeom to leave. Nothing they say or do will change his mind now. The four girls, 2PM, Kyuhyun, and Sungmin are at the airport, bidding him farewell.
"Hyung…" Wooyoung cries. He always has been the baby, the one who cries easily. Jaebeom brings the members of 2PM into a hug, all of them crying at this point. Jaebeom promises that he'll call them, that he'll be back soon. The 6 remaining members hold onto him, not wanting to let him go. Jaebeom breaks away, turning to Eunjae and Junghwa.
"Oppa…" Junghwa says, tears leaking from her eyes, as Jaebeom hugs her tightly.
"It'll be okay, dongsaeng." He says, pulling away to look at Eunjae. Eunjae looks back at him, eyes steely as she throws herself into his arms, kissing him desperately. They kiss for a long time, and then Eunjae takes a step back slowly, moving to stand with Junghwa. Jaebeom catches her arm before she goes, whispering an "I love you" into her ear.
Jaekyung, Sungmin, and Kyuhyun hug him quickly. "I'll miss you." Jaebeom says to them. They reply likewise, and Jaebeom tells Kyuhyun, "Take care of Hyun-Ah."
"I will." Kyuhyun promises, stepping away as Hyun-Ah comes up.
"I'll come home soon, Jay." Hyun-Ah says in English. Jaebeom nods wordlessly.
"I know. I love you, little sister." Jaebeom says, hugging her softly.
"I love you too." She softens, leaning into his embrace.
"Passengers for the flight to Seattle, Washington, please begin boarding now." The announcement sounds. Jaebeom pulls away, waving to everyone sadly.
They all desperately want to keep him there, with them, but they have no choice but to let him go.
"I'll be back soon, I promise." Jaebeom - no, Jay Park now - says, all gathering together for one last hug.
And then, he's gone. Through the security gate and the last thing they see is his white beanie.

~December, 2009~
He's drunk. Hyun-Ah knows that. She also knows that he was involved in a hit and run earlier that night. She knows because she was in the car that he hit. Miyoung was driving the car that night - she, Henry, and Hyun-Ah had been out to the mall and the arcades, because lately Henry had been complaining about missing Canada. Miyoung was surprisingly fluent in English - she, it turned out, had also lived in America as a child, though she was born in Korea. The three of them have been spending time together, mostly because Hyun-Ah and Henry want to speak English, not Korean or Mandarin. But that day, Miyoung had been driving Henry and Hyun-Ah back to the Super Junior dorms, when a drunk driver hit their car with quite a bit of force, sending it careening off to the side of the road. As the driver drove away, clearly intoxicated, Hyun-Ah recognized Kangin's face.
She never went home that night. She was stuck at the hospital, with Henry and Miyoung, getting their injuries checked up on. Miyoung had a broken collarbone; Hyun-Ah had suffered a broken rib; and Henry a broken wrist. They considered themselves lucky, actually. It could have been so much worse.

The next morning, Hyun-Ah calls Leeteuk. He has been panicking all night, since Hyun-Ah and Henry had never come home.
"Do you know how worried I was?!" Leeteuk rails. "Kangin came home drunk, blabbering about being involved in a car accident, and -"
Hyun-Ah cuts him off. "I know, umma."
"How do you know?" Leeteuk demands. Hyun-Ah sighs.
"Umma, you need to come to the hospital." She says simply, hanging up before Leeteuk can say anything else.

Leeteuk enters the moment visiting hours begin, 3 hours after the phone call.
"You were the victims?" Leeteuk says in a dangerously shaking voice. Miyoung watches him from her hospital bed; and Hyun-Ah is sleeping in her bed. Henry sits propped up in a third bed, left arm enclosed in a cast.
"Yes." He says quietly, refusing to look at Leeteuk.

Two weeks later, tragedy strikes again.
"Ge ge, Not you too, please, no!" Hyun-ah begs, tears falling down her face once again. Han Geng stares sadly at her, heart aching.
"I'm sorry… I’m so sorry…" Han Geng whispers. Hyun-Ah sobs hard, hard enough that her still-healing ribs ache painfully and she collapses onto the floor, struggling to breathe. Han Geng falls to his knees next to her, holding her tenderly, apologizing over and over into her hair.
"Ge ge…" She sobs, clutching desperately at his shirt as if that action could keep him there. "Don't leave me, ge ge…" She hiccups softly. She slackens in his arms, worn out and exhausted.
