“Ahhh! What should I wear?” Carmen panics, running around her room. She picks up her cell phone and frantically dials a certain number, holding the phone to her ear while hopping up and down in anxiety.

“Ah, my phone is ringing…” Megan says, pulling her phone from a pocket in her bag and answering it. “Hello?”
“Who is it?” Kevin whispers eagerly. Kyuhyun reaches across the table and shushes him.
“Megan! Help me! I don’t know what to do!” The overly panicked voice of Carmen comes through the line, and she is speaking loudly enough that even Kevin and Kyuhyun can hear her without trouble.
Megan laughs, holding the phone a little further away from her ear. “Carmen, what’s going on?”
“Ahh! Kibum oppa agreed to go out for ice cream and he said he would be here in 15 minutes and I have no idea what to wear!” They can picture Carmen flailing around randomly in her room, and Megan speaks calmly into the phone.
“Carmen, just wear something normal. It’s an ice cream shop, not a fancy dinner. If he likes you, he likes you the way you are, not who you aren’t.” She says rationally, and Carmen sighs.
“Okay… give me a color?” Carmen says hesitantly.
Megan sighs a little. “What’s Kibum oppa’s favorite color, Carmen?”
“Black!” Carmen says happily. Kevin laughs a little from the conversation that he can hear.
“So wear a little black… but not too much, because you don’t want to look like it’s a funeral. Maybe a black T-shirt with a light green hoodie and jeans will do.” Megan says, trying out the color combination in her head.
“Okay! Thanks, Megan!” Carmen replies cheerfully.
“No problem.” Megan hangs up and turns to Kyuhyun and Kevin. “Success!”
“He asked her out, right?” Kevin grins, and Megan nods, smiling.
“Good job, pretending you had no idea what we were talking about,” Kyuhyun says, imagining just how he can tease Kibum later.
“Hey, where are they going?” Kevin asks curiously. Megan’s eyes widen, and she stands up.
“We should go; I think they’re coming here!” She says. Kevin and Kyuhyun stand up, and the three walk leisurely out of the ice cream shop.

Ding~ Dong~
The doorbell sounds, and Carmen nervously opens the door. Kibum stands in the doorway, dressed in a casual blue hoodie and jeans.
“Hi, Carmen, ready to go?” Kibum greets, smiling, and Carmen nods, stepping out of the house and locking the door behind her.
“Do you have a specific shop in mind, oppa?” Carmen says shyly.
“Yeah, I was thinking about that place that Megan always drags everyone to… they have some pretty good flavors.” Kibum says nonchalantly.
“Okay,” Carmen says, following obediently behind Kibum. Awkwardly, Kibum reaches out and takes Carmen’s hand shyly, offering no explanation save a small smile. Outwardly, Carmen merely smiles and accepts Kibum’s hand, but inside she is jumping for joy at the fact that Kibum has finally decided to take the initiative.

“Look, look!” Kevin whispers excitedly. “They’re holding hands!”
“Yeah, but clearly, it’s awkward…” Kyuhyun points out. Megan frowns at him.
“Always have to look on the bad side, don’t you, Kyu?” Megan says, and Kyuhyun can’t tell if she is serious or joking.
“Who cares? They’re holding hands!” Kevin exclaims, and Kyuhyun and Megan shush him instantly.
“What if they hear you, Kevin?” Megan hisses furiously. Kevin flushes as Kyuhyun glares at him.
“Sorry…”

“Huh?” Kibum says, looking around in confusion. Carmen looks up at Kibum, equally confused.
“Oppa? What’s going on?” Carmen questions. Kibum shakes his head.
“I could have sworn I heard Kevin…” Kibum says in disbelief. “Please don’t tell me I’m starting to hear things.”
“I don’t think you are…” Carmen replies, unsure as to what Kibum is referring to.

“That was so close!” Megan whispers, sighing in relief. “Kevin, be more careful!”
“Sorry! I didn’t mean to…” Kevin replies, taking care to keep his voice down.
Kyuhyun huffs in exasperation. “This is so pointless.”
“No, it’s not!” Megan protests, frowning, “Those two have liked each other for so long, it’s not even funny!”

“What flavor do you want, Carmen?” Kibum asks, turning to look at her. “Green tea, right?”
“You’re right, oppa!” Carmen smiles while looking at all the different flavors excitedly.
“One scoop of green tea and one scoop of chocolate, please.” Kibum says to the person behind the counter, who smiles and quickly scoops the two cones.
“That will be 4400 won, please.” She says, and Kibum gives her the money.
“Here…” Kibum carefully hands the green tea cone to Carmen, who takes it happily. “Should we take a seat…?”
“Okay!” Carmen replies cheerfully, choosing a small table near the side of the room.

“Hey, he bought her ice cream!” Megan coos; the two boys crouching behind her not particularly surprised at her overexcitement.
“That’s cute!” Kevin replies, forgetting to whisper. Kyuhyun sighs.
“Kevin, you have to whisper,” Kyuhyun reminds him. Kevin covers his mouth and apologizes sheepishly.
“I’m sorry…”

“Carmen, you have ice cream on your face…” Kibum says, taking a napkin and gently wiping Carmen’s mouth. Carmen’s eyes widen and she freezes in place as Kibum pats at her face.
“Th-Thank you, oppa…” Carmen stutters, face reddening as she pulls away from her crush. Kibum flushes slightly and pulls away as well.
“Y-Yeah… no problem,” Kibum says, smiling at her.

“He should just ask her out.” Kyuhyun comments dryly. Megan nods furiously in agreement that is all too obvious.
“Why hasn’t he?” Kevin asks naively. Kyuhyun shrugs.
“Maybe because he’s scared,” Kyuhyun replies with no inflection in his voice.
“If we leave them alone, do you think oppa will get any more guts?” Megan whispers, much to the amusement of the two boys.
“No,” Kyuhyun smiles, “he won’t.”

“Carmen,” Kibum says abruptly, looking up at her face. Carmen looks at Kibum in surprise.
“What is it, Kibum oppa?” Carmen smiles, wondering what Kibum could possibly want to say to her.
“Thanks… Thanks for agreeing to come out and eat ice cream with me,” Kibum says, caught by a lack of words. Carmen tilts her head slightly in confusion and smiles again.
“You don’t need to thank me for that, oppa,” She replies happily, finishing off the last bits of her cone.
Kibum drops his eyes back to his unfinished cone, suddenly too shy to speak another word.

“Oh, goodness,” Megan sighs, exasperated. “He’s so hopeless! Could he possibly be any more of a failure?”
“Now, now,” Kyuhyun chides Megan softly, “that’s not a nice way to put it. But to answer your question, yes, he could be.”
“He could have never asked Carmen out to ice cream!” Kevin pipes up, and Megan sighs.
“But… he’s so slow about just asking her out!” Megan complains, and Kyuhyun pats her head in a condescending fashion.
“He’ll get it eventually.” Kyuhyun reassures her.

“May I walk you home?” Kibum says, chivalrous manners kicking in. Carmen nods, delighted beyond words.
“Of course, I don’t mind!” She exclaims, standing up and pushing her chair in. Kibum does the same, and they walk out of the little ice cream shop together.

“He’s finally doing something, Kevin, Megan, look.” Kyuhyun says, pointing in the direction of their friend.
“Oooh! Finally!” Megan exclaims, standing up and stretching carefully. Kevin mimics her movements, and the trio saunters casually after the couple.

Kibum walks Carmen all the way to the door of her house. At the door, he turns to her with a blush on his cheeks and shaking knees.
“Would you… go out with me?” Kibum asks, almost afraid to hear the answer. Carmen, for her part, is incredulous.

“… He actually did it.” Megan says in disbelief, peeking around the bushes that shield them from the couple’s view.

“Go out with you? As in… I would be your girlfriend?” Carmen asks, eyes wide in amazement, and Kibum nods wordlessly, too nervous to speak a sound of affirmation. “Y-Yes!” Carmen squeaks, still unable to believe her own ears.
“Really?” Kibum asks, perhaps equally as amazed. Carmen nods, taking Kibum’s hand and smiling contentedly at him.
“I thought you would never like me as more than a friend…” Carmen confesses, and Kibum laughs.
“I thought the same,” He replies, and the two smile at each other, sickeningly sweet. Kibum leans in and kisses Carmen quickly. Applause sounds from around them, and the two break apart in shock to see their three friends clapping in various states of excitement.
“It’s about time, oppa! You finally got the courage up!” Megan exclaims, letting out a long-suffering sigh of relief.
“Congratulations, hyung!” Kevin says cheerfully, applauding the newly established couple.
Kyuhyun just smirks. In the end, everything ended well. That’s how things are supposed to be, he decides, letting out a rare but brilliant smile.

“I thought the same,” He replies, and the two smile at each other, sickeningly sweet. Kibum leans in and kisses Carmen quickly. Applause sounds from around them, and the two break apart in shock to see their three friends clapping in various states of excitement.
“It’s about time, oppa! You finally got the courage up!” Megan exclaims, letting out a long-suffering sigh of relief.
“Congratulations, hyung!” Kevin says cheerfully, applauding the newly established couple.
