“What's your name?” Kyuhyun asked.

“Park Hyun-Ah.” Hyun-Ah responded. “Are you in year 5?” Kyuhyun smiled.

“No, I'm in year 6.” Kyuhyun said. “What about you, year 3?”

Hyun-Ah pouted. “How'd you know?” Kyuhyun laughed.

“Just a lucky guess.” He said flippantly. Hyun-Ah smiled again, and yawned.

“Kyuhyun ssi,” she said, “is it okay if I sleep for a while?”

“Yeah, I'll wake you up in an hour or so, okay?” Kyuhyun said, watching as Hyun-Ah's eyes fluttered closed.

--

“What! How did this happen!?” Han Geng bellowed in heavily accented Korean. That woke up Hyun-Ah, who blinked sleepily. Next to her, she saw Kyuhyun's dark head resting on his arms.

“Ge ge!” Hyun-Ah called softly in Mandarin. Han Geng spun to look at her, face creasing in relief.

“Mei mei! Are you okay?” Han Geng asked frantically. Hyun-Ah reached her hand out and pulled Han Geng to sit on the bed, being careful to avoid Kyuhyun's head.

“I'm fine, ge ge.” Hyun-Ah reassured him, snuggling her head into his chest. Han Geng wrapped his arms around her, pressing his face into her hair.

“Who is he?” Han Geng said warily, gesturing at Kyuhyun. Hyun-Ah lifted her head to see who Han Geng was referring to.

“Oh, that's Cho Kyuhyun. He was the one who kicked the ball.” Hyun-Ah murmured. Han Geng made a move as if to attack Kyuhyun, but Hyun-Ah kept a hold on Han Geng. “It's okay, it was an accident, ge ge. He's really very sorry. Don't hurt him, ge ge. I already forgave him.” Hyun-Ah pleaded quietly. Han Geng sighed, settling back. “Look, he looks worried, even in his sleep.” Hyun-Ah whispered. It was true; Kyuhyun's face was twisted into a frown, hands twitching nervously.

“Kyuhyun ssi. Kyuhyun ssi.” Hyun-Ah said in Korean, poking Kyuhyun's head. (She really likes to poke stuff, doesn't she?) Kyuhyun lifted his head, blinking dark grey eyes.

“Ehhh…?” he said, confused. He noticed Han Geng and Hyun-Ah, and his confusion seemed to clear up. “Um, pleased to meet you. I'm Cho Kyuhyun.” He said, quickly bowing.

“I'm Han Geng.” Han Geng bowed slightly, speaking in accented Korean.

Kyuhyun looked puzzled at the name. Hyun-Ah noticed this, explaining, “Han Geng is Chinese. He isn't my biological brother.”

“Why did he come from China then?” Kyuhyun pondered. Hyun-Ah shrugged.

“Why did I come from Seattle?” she answered cryptically.

"That's a good question. Why did you?" Kyuhyun asked curiously.

"Personal matters." Hyun-Ah said shortly. Kyuhyun frowned, but understood the silent request for a change in subject.

"Where do you live?" he asked quickly. Hyun-Ah named the address, and Kyuhyun grinned, "Hey, I'm your neighbor! Well, kind of." he exclaimed.

"Really? Where do you live?" Hyun-Ah wondered.

"Same address, I'm room 407." Kyuhyun said, smiling. "I'll walk you to and from school then, if that's alright with you, Han Geng ssi." He said, hastily turning towards Han Geng. Hyun-Ah quickly explained the situation to Han Geng in Mandarin.

Han Geng frowned, surveying the boy before him. Tall, skinny, with wavy black hair, expressive grey eyes, and full lips. His eyes held an innocent quality, one that was untainted by corruption.

"Fine, but make sure nothing happens." Han Geng warned Kyuhyun. Kyuhyun nodded solemnly.

"I'll make sure she doesn't get into any kind of trouble." Kyuhyun said. They were interrupted by a crash. Unknown to them, Hyun-Ah had made an attempt to stand up. Naturally, she failed, collapsing into a heap on the tiled floor.

"Oww..." Hyun-Ah groaned, trying to pull herself to a sitting position. Kyuhyun knelt down, placing Hyun-Ah's arms around his neck.

"Hold on tight." Kyuhyun instructed, and Hyun-Ah tightened her grip. Effortlessly, Kyuhyun lifted up Hyun-Ah and sat her on the bed gently. Han Geng observed this, making sure that Cho Kyuhyun really was capable of taking care of his little sister.

--

Kyuhyun felt very, very guilty. That was why he was trying so hard to help Park Hyun-Ah act like normal. He knew it was all his fault.

--

"Oppa," Hyun-Ah started, a couple of weeks later, "are you Christian?"

"Yeah." Kyuhyun murmured, hardly looking up from his Starcraft. Han Geng had found a job and was working, so Hyun-Ah was with Kyuhyun, who lived alone.

"You go to church, right?" She continued, rummaging through the fridge for eggs.

"Mhm." Kyuhyun responded. Hyun-Ah cracked the eggs into a bowl, whipping them around.

"Can I go to church with you?" Hyun-Ah asked, adding scrambled eggs to the rice in the pan.

"Sure." Kyuhyun said, fingers moving frantically.

"Okay, it's done." Hyun-Ah said, pulling out three bowls and spooning fried rice into each bowl.

"Aishh." Kyuhyun groaned. "I lost."

--

"This is Park Hyun-Ah." Kyuhyun introduced. Hyun-Ah peeked out from behind him.

"Annyeong?" she said timidly. Suddenly, someone jumped on Hyun-Ah and caused her to stagger forward into Kyuhyun. The girl grabbed Hyun-Ah's arm, tugging her away from Kyuhyun and to another group.

As she pulled, she babbled. "Hi I'm Kim Miyoung and I'm so glad that you're here and what school do you go to how old are you?" She said this all very quickly and in one breath.

Hyun-Ah took a couple of seconds to process this. "Um, I'm in 9. I'm in year 3." she answered the only question she deciphered.

Kim Miyoung was very, very hyper. Hyun-Ah sighed.
