Six days later, Kyuhyun is moved out of the ICU and into a regular hospital room. He is also taken off the respiratory machine, no longer needing it to support his breathing. This shocks all the doctors who had not expected such a quick recovery. Hyun-Ah, Ryeowook, Sungmin, Hankyung, and Jaekyung visit Kyuhyun the day he transfers rooms. Hyun-Ah has practically been sleeping at the hospital, waiting for the moment when Kyuhyun would wake up.
Kyuhyun is finally awake, so the doctors deem him strong enough to move out of the ICU. He is still connected by tubes to monitors and IV drips, but he looks a little better already, smiling slowly as his friends walk in.
"Kyuhyun!" Hyun-Ah cries, hugging him carefully. Kyuhyun leans into her embrace, the best he can do. Hyun-Ah is crying again, and Kyuhyun cannot say anything to comfort her. He is mute; he has been since the accident. The doctors say that it is temporary, that it is due to the shock his vocal cords received. He just pressed a soft kiss to her wet cheek, and she smiled tearfully at him. He pulls away, mouthing three syllables to her.
To Hyun-Ah, it is almost as if he says it out loud. "Saranghae." She can almost hear his voice as she reads his lips, as she reads those syllables almost spoken from his mouth. Hyun-Ah kisses him gently on his cheek.
"Saranghae." She whispers. Then she backs away, letting Ryeowook, Sungmin, and Hankyung come up. Ryeowook and Sungmin are both teary eyed from happiness that their much loved magnae is safe.
Jaekyung hugs Hyun-Ah tightly. "Are you okay?" Jaekyung asks gently. Hyun-Ah nods. Jaekyung spends a lot of time with Hyun-Ah, Kyuhyun, and Sungmin now. Eunjae and Junghwa prefer going to visit Jaebeom, Taecyeon, Junho, Wooyoung, and the others.
There is a knock on the door before it opens and the smell of fresh cookies wafts inside. Hyun-Ah brightens, because she knows exactly who it is.
"Miyoung ah!" Hyun-Ah exclaims. The dark-haired girl grins, holding out a plate laden with cookies.
"Unni!" Miyoung responds. She sees Jaekyung and stops, looking confused. Hyun-Ah hastily introduces them.
"Miyoung, this is Jung Jaekyung. She's a friend from school." Hyun-Ah smiles. Miyoung waves, being careful not to drop the cookies.
"Unni, this is Kim Miyoung. Kyu and I go to church with Miyoung." Hyun-Ah says, and Jaekyung waves back at Miyoung.
"Unni, is Kyuhyun oppa alright?" Miyoung asks, normally cheerful face clouded with worry. Hyun-Ah nods solemnly.
"He can't talk right now though." Hyun-Ah says sadly. Jaekyung frowns slightly.
"He'll be okay, though." Jaekyung reassures them. Hyun-Ah smiles gratefully at Jaekyung. Jaekyung knows how she feels, she loves Kyuhyun as a brother. Hyun-Ah and Jaekyung feel that way about most of the Super Junior members.
"Oh, right, Hyun-Ah, these are for oppa." Miyoung says, handing Hyun-Ah the plate of cookies. Hyun-Ah thanks her, and Miyoung walks over to Kyuhyun.
Jaekyung leans in, quietly whispering, "Does she like Kyuhyun?" Hyun-Ah shakes her head vehemently, laughing.
"Nothing of the sort!" Hyun-Ah tells Jaekyung, still giggling. The people by the bed look up at the two girls, wondering what they found so funny, because somewhere along the way, Jaekyung had begun laughing. Kyuhyun's eyes twinkle with amusement. He doesn't need his voice to express himself; he does that just fine non-verbally. But his voice is beautiful, breathtaking even, and Hyun-Ah loves it. She could listen to him speak or sing for hours on end, and he often sings her to sleep during the day. Kyuhyun silently asks Sungmin to bring Hyun-Ah over to the bed. He does this with just a few gestures, but Sungmin understands him immediately. Hyun-Ah gets pulled to the bed mid-conversation with Jaekyung. She understands what Kyuhyun is asking for with his eyes, leaning down to hug him and give him a chaste kiss on the cheek. Kyuhyun kisses her back lightly, and she pulls away, eyes bright. Hyun-Ah smiles, knowing that with time, Kyuhyun will definitely be fine. She can feel it. The rest of the group bid their farewells. Hyun-Ah has a photo shoot to attend, and since she just turned 16 not long ago, she can't drive herself. She does, however, have a car. A black KIA Forte, that her parents helped pay for. Mostly though, it's Hankyung who uses it and today, he, Sungmin, Ryeowook, and Jaekyung are going to watch Hyun-Ah's photo shoot. It isn't Hankyung's first time watching Hyun-Ah in action, but it is for everyone else. Jaekyung is especially interested, since she is getting a look into the entertainment business without having to do the work. When they arrive at the studio, Hyun-Ah is immediately grabbed by her stylists, who whisk her away. Hankyung, much used to this procedure, follows the stylists with ease, and the rest of them follow. Hyun-Ah is sat in a chair, and the stylists begin by making her usually straight hair wavy. Her long hair is naturally straight, and the original black color has been tinted red. Hyun-Ah looks in the mirror and sees Jaekyung laughing a little. She sticks her tongue out at Jaekyung childishly, causing her to laugh even harder. Hyun-Ah grins, and then she can't move anymore, because they're applying her makeup, and although they don't put much, it's annoying. Hyun-Ah does not like makeup, on normal days, the most she'll wear is a tiny bit of eyeliner, since she's expected to look good everywhere, which is also annoying. Actually, a lot of things are annoying, and Hyun-Ah thinks that this must be Kyuhyun's fault. He loves sarcasm, and truthfully, she does too, but Kyuhyun uses it a LOT. Hyun-Ah realizes that it must be rubbing off on her. As she finishes thinking of these things, her manager calls her to the change rooms. Jaekyung follows eagerly, and Sungmin and Ryeowook exchange amused looks. Hyun-Ah disappears into a change room, reappearing a couple minutes later in a casual cascade cardigan in grey, and a black tank top underneath. White open toed shoes and dark washed jeans complete the ensemble.
"Aww!" Jaekyung coos. "You're so pretty, Hyun." Hyun-Ah blushes visibly.
"Thanks, Jae." Hyun-Ah beams. Hyun-Ah is then sent over to the white backdrop, where her partner for modeling waits. Hyun-Ah smiles happily when she sees him. They work together a lot, because their looks complement each other.
"Hyun-Ah, ready?" He calls. He's wearing a blue polo seemingly suited for summer with khaki shorts. His hair is short and slightly spiky, and the overall look suits him well.
