He saved her. That's her first memory of him. She remembers being scared, huddled in the alley, and frightened out of her mind as the sky turned dark. She had run, run far away from the man who had made the scary noises - noises she now realizes were gunshots. The man who was pointing a gun right now, the one who killed her family. She shrieked in terror, and at that very moment, a dark shape smashed the scary man into the brick wall of the alley. He looked at her, smiled, and held out a hand. She took that hand, the hand of the teenage boy who had saved her.

She's happy now, honestly. He took her in 5 years ago when she had nowhere to go. That traumatic experience is almost behind her, and would be completely if not for the aching loss of her family. She never did find out what happened to that scary man.
But sometimes, sometimes, she wakes up screaming, terror filling her eyes. It's then that he runs in, hugging her close and whispering comforting words into her ear, just like he did when she was 12. She shudders and sinks into Sungmin's arms.
"Don't be afraid, Jaekyung. I'll always be there for you." Sungmin whispers, holding her close.

Her best memory comes 5 years after that, 10 years after he saved her. He proposes to her, complete with a candlelight dinner, a romantic atmosphere, and he falls to one knee, taking one hand.
"Jaekyung," He says. She looks up at him with widened eyes. "You're worth more than anything to me. Will you please stay with me forever?"
"Sungmin…" Jaekyung breathes in wonder.
"Marry me, Jung Jaekyung." She laughs delightedly, hugging him tightly.

"Why did you marry me?" Jaekyung wonders years later, with their children tucked soundly into bed.
"Because I love you." He replies, turning his body to snuggle into Jaekyung.
"Why do you love me though?" She sighs.
"Because you're you, and I love everything that you do." He whispers into her ear.
"I love you because you're Lee Jaekyung."
