Im afraid for it too. Their making it look like Darren always wanted to be a vampire and he's going to enjoy it, which is so NOT the case!!

EXACTLY! they show him going up to crepsely asking to become a vampire. he was like FORCED into it. he never wanted to be one :( damn it.

Yeah I saw that a few days ago.

I died a little on the inside. It looks like something Disney spat out.

I declare dollar theater when hardly any of the revenue goes back to the film company. Or free rental at the library! XD

Even without our initial tickets during opening weeks, I still think it's going to bomb heh.

it really does! they could have kept all the gore and awesomeness but no - they made it a KIDS movie. it's a young adult series, not a kid books. bah.

Wow, I had no idea that a movie was in the works for this series. I haven't read any of Darren Shan's books, but I'm sorry to hear that the movie doesn't look promising. :/

yeah i heard about it a couple of years ago. you should! they're VERY good. yeah same. i hope it bombs and they make no money on it and i'm usually for book to movie conversions but not this one

Right after posting my last comment, I looked the series up on Wikipedia, and I agree - the movie is totally different from the book! The series sounds much darker and fantastically sinister than story presented in the trailer, which feels sanitized and Disney-ified, like Spy Kids meets vampires or something. Yuck!

I dunno if I'll try the series. Shan's stuff doesn't sound like my cup of tea. But if I find myself with some free time in a bookstore in the near future, I'll give one of his books a gander.

yeah they disney-ized it big time. not to mention darren NEVER wanted to be a vampire.

his stuff is really really dark and it twists around so much. i'm really not into dark/gory reading but ah man his books just LURE you in!
