tracking post - week four
Day Twenty-two - (Day 45/Tuesday)
This day starts off on an odd note, as Sai soon finds out that Sakura is now calling herself "Courtney" and is acting as though she believes the Institute's usual lies. This seems to be common among many of the patients, as he discusses with Kakashi and Shikamaru in the library the next shift. Lunch is spent reintroducing himself to a Mello that doesn't remember him (and now calls himself Morgan). Another, far more important friend reappears the next shift in the form of Usopp, though the arrival of a brainwashed Sasuke makes true conversation difficult. Dinner is spent discussing the days events with Honey.
This night, for once, it's Usopp that makes his way to Sai's room. The two of them spend the rest of the night getting reacquainted and going over the basics of the Institute.
Day Twenty-three - (Day 46/Wednesday)
At breakfast this morning, Mello begrudgingly returns to tell Sai he was right (only not in those words). Afterward, a chance meeting with Hitsugaya brings up the matter of an alliance with Arts & Crafts, and Sai points him toward Kakashi, who just happens to be who he meets with over lunch. The next shift is in the music room, where he has a brief conversation with Sakura. Dinner with Honey is as sweet as usual.
Tonight, Sai meets with Shikamaru. Their task is to secure the metal needed to repay the alchemist who'd made their kunai. The mission is successful, with them getting hold of some just before night ends.
Day Twenty-four - (Day 47/Thursday)
This morning, breakfast is spent with the lovely Franziska von Karma. In the rec field, he meets the newest leaf nin to arrive - Uchiha Obito, though their talk is short. Lunch is spent with Usopp, which is always a pleasure, and while nothing much happens the shift afterward, dinner is also fairly pleasant.
Sai starts off the night by running into Maito Gai, of all people. Leaving the explanation of the Institute to Kakashi, he leaves with Shikamaru to follow a radio clue, but ends up finding a brainwashed Usopp instead. After warning him to stop, Sai manages to knock the pirate out and retrieve his slingshot for him.
Day Twenty-five - (Day 48/Friday)
Missing breakfast, Sai attempted to cheer up Artemis in the showers, with minimal success. Lunch shift is spent trying to further re-establish his bond with Usopp, while nothing much happens fourth. Dinner was likewise uneventful.
He heads out that night with very little planned and ends up joining Ayumu ("Sen") and Heiji as they make their way toward the kitchen. Unfortunately, they are stopped in the sun room by Kayako possessing Sai. The results are tragic, as he ends up killing Ayumu. He would have followed up with Heiji, but the night came to a close before he could.
Day Twenty-six - (Day 49/Saturday)
The next day finds Sai in a haze as guilt, as well as Kayako's haunting, leave him in quite a state. He rides the bus into Doyleton next to Rei Ayanami, and ends up being directed to lead Sasuke again when they arrive. The two of them chat some, though Sai is eventually overcome by Kayako's haunting and is nearly choked to death by invisible means. He offers Sasuke a lame excuse and leaves him. Later, he runs into Mello, and they discuss the possibility of working together again in the future. After that, he comes across Heiji again, and their awkward conversation is interrupted by an attempt by Okita on his life, which thankfully Homura is able to avert. At dinner, he avoids mentioning any difficult topics to Honey.
He meets up with Artemis and Haku that night, and warns them that he's worried he might become possessed again. Promising to deal with him should that happen, they begin to head out only for Sai to be attacked by Okita in the hall. Kenshin comes to his rescue and keeps the Shinsengumi member occupied as the others escape. Due to the portal event in effect that night, they step outside only to end up in the Labyrinth.
Day Twenty-seven - (Day 50/Sunday)
In the chapel, Sai runs into one grumpy Inuzuka and the two manage to have a brief chat. Brunch ends up meaning a short talk with Naruto, and the next shift is spent with Honey, who worries over his behavior. Nothing much else happens until nightfall.
When the doors open, Sai immediately leaves to meet with Artemis and Haku. They are also joined by Allelujah. A loss of Landel's automatic translating leads to some difficulties, but thankfully Artemis has them covered. Sadly, they are unable to make it over the wall.
Day Twenty-eight - (Day 51/Monday)
At breakfast, Sai meets up with Mello again to make him some kata diagrams. Then at lunch, he tries to explain the Institute to a younger Kakashi. Nothing much else happened with him for the rest of the day.
He attempts to meet with Artemis and Haku again that night, but nothing much becomes of it.
