Well, this day came quicker than I expected it to. Tomorrow, I leave for my new life in Germany. Yes, the inevitable Year Abroad is here. And weirdly, I just want it to be over as quickly as possible. Not sure how I'm feeling about it all at the moment. While yes, I am sad I'm leaving, I actually want to go. VIEL GLUCK UND VIEL SPASS! It's going to be a real experience. I honestly hope you get as much out of it - life-changingly - as I did. The thing is, there are so many variables that it's actually utterly unpredictable and a unique experience for everyone. I can suggest things like getting a Bahncard 50 and travelling a lot (especially at Weihnachtszeit) but it's all up to you. I'm excited for you :)

As for your dissertation...wow, haha, I guess East German cinema is finally being taken seriously! I was really out on an oddly-shaped limb when I did my study across the board. Let me know when and I'll give you / ship you my DEFA books so you don't need to get ones yourself :)
