Canon: What better candidate for the title of the Pirate King than a rubber idiot who can’t swim? Monkey D. Luffy is the hero of One Piece, an epic shounen series about dreams, adventure, friendship, and pirates with wacky powers the world over. Luffy embodies all of the above as he sets sail for his dream and becomes captain of his own crew, the Straw Hat Pirates -- one of whom is Tony Tony Chopper, the ship’s emergency rations pet doctor.
Chopper is an adorable blue-nosed reindeer-human doctor pirate, and his dream is to discover a cure for all the world’s diseases while at sea with the Straw Hats. He’s a skilled physician and a strong fighter, but acts more like a hugely earnest and excitable child most of the time. Due to his sheltered upbringing, Chopper is also easily impressed, ridiculously gullible, and horrible at hiding his emotions. Though prone to panic and self-doubt at the slightest trouble (to the point of actually forgetting that he’s a doctor sometimes), Chopper takes his practice very seriously and is deeply dedicated to taking care of the injured or ill. No lack of confidence will stop Chopper from giving his all where it really counts, especially when it comes to fighting with or for his friends. As sweet and naïve as he usually is, Chopper’s still a Straw Hat, and is as insanely loyal to and protective of any one of them as they are towards him.

S-so scary! I’ve got to get away! I don’t want to run, but I don’t know if I’m strong enough to take out all those zombies by myself. It’s a good thing that they’re so slow, ha ha -- huh?! What just happened? I’m back to where I was?! Wah, zombies everywhere, there’s too many to fight on my own! What do I do?! I wish the others were here, but--!
No, I can’t think like that! How can the others rely on me when I can’t rely on myself? They depend on me! And I’m a man, aren’t I?! I’m a pirate! I have to be brave! So… I’m not scared!
