Just found out that our area of Yokohama (and also Numazu city) are scheduled for 2 power outages tomorrow from about 9am to 1pm and 6pm to 10pm. I'm thinking this is going to be a real pain because during those outages, the trains won't be running. Effectively, that means most people won't be able to get much work done tomorrow.

I have a lesson scheduled in Numazu at 4pm tomorrow, and I had planned to go there early to follow up on getting help with my taxes. But I don't think either of those things is going to happen. Assuming the Tokaido Line is running and I took an early-morning train to get to Numazu by 9, I doubt I'd be able to avail myself of the free tax help before the power cut out. I could probably make it to and teach my 4 o'clock lesson without incident, but I'd never be able to make it home before the power cut out again around 6. (My students would definitely come. They are crazy.)

What I'm starting to worry about is the stores. The refrigerated foods. Our fridges at home will be fine as long as we don't open them for long periods at a time, but I wonder if they'll be able to keep perishables in stock?

I'm just praying that the 7-hour power outage thing (which they're saying is to make sure the hospitals have enough power) is something that's happening tomorrow only. They're saying that there'll be rolling power outages through the end of April, but it better not be 7 hours every day. We'll have to wait and see.

I'm thinking about staying up tonight and trying to get some stuff done while we still have power ... laundry or something. Since apparently we're not going to work tomorrow anyway.
