This time, I'm not going to do a day-by-day recount of my trip. It'll be a compilation of various events that stick to me. 8D
I love cafes. If you didn't already know that.. I LOVE CAFES. ♥ There. xD!! I am happy with the fact that Seoul has so many cafes. Starbucks, Coffee Bean, Angel-in-us, Dunkin' Donuts, Baskin' Robins - I COULD LIVE ON JUST CAFES, YO! \o/~ I managed to eat in a few, and tried most of their hot chocolates. Because I love hot choco, okay? Even though all of them burnt my tongue. I still love hot choco~
And all their cafes have these buzzer-things.. That are kinda like pagers.. It buzzes and/or lights up with a sound, letting you know that you can go to the pick-up counter to grab your order. It stops people like me from being lazy, 'cos in Singapore, you kinda get served. Haha! The interesting thing about these buzzers is that every cafe does it differently. Some come with screens that play trailers and ads that keep you occupied while waiting, and some are just simple ones with text and/or logos.
- Paris Baguette -
A hot choco to start the day at the airport!
There're a ton of Paris Baguette branches around Seoul, so whenever we needed a bite, we'd stop by. It was great for breakfast in the morning or while traveling to your next destination. Here's a red bean bun I had for breakfast in Jeju in the taxi.
- Angel-in-us -
Their buzzers came shaped like a PDA, and it plays drama/movie trailers and ads. You can even adjust the volume. xD I love the interior in this cafe. This is my favourite cafe amongst all the rest, simply because of the ambience.
Strawberry smoothie and thick toast. They weren't that bad, but I won't be able to finish the toast on my own. xD I should try their other waffles...
- 7gram -
The serviette is too cute. The typography is too cute. :3 And I don't have any regrets having all that fresh whipped cream on my waffle. I don't believe in "not eating food that makes you fat" because I disapprove of skinny, okay? Haha...
- Dunkin' Donuts -
I cannot resist such food! TwT/// Another place I'd be a regular at~ In fact, we ate here quite often.
- O'Sulloc -
This is the O'Sulloc Tea Museum in Jeju. It includes a small museum, obervatory, tea plantation, and products store. If I lived in Jeju, I'd totally want to work in this place. Away from everyone. LOL!! It was an extremely pleasant and calming place, and all the green tea inspired food and drinks helped. Unique!
- Smoothie King -
We honestly stopped by this branch at Sinchon because we were thirsty. Sis was hungry so she had a bagel. I just took the pics of f(x)'s Victoria and Sulli on their ads cos I could. xD;;
- Handel and Gretel -
I'm going to be honest. We went all the way to Yeouido to find this particular cafe. Because it's owned by Super Junior's Yesung (okay, he bought a branch as it was franchised - there're other branches around, we just went to this one - we only found out about this when we came back home though!). And it wasn't very easy to find, considering we only had "across from KBS building" and "near Yeouido Park" as our clues. I found it using instinct and the map and if I didn't turn behind, I probably would've not seen it. Please allow my bias report to begin. xD!!
I was actually surprised by the small size of the place, since I expected it to be able to withstand large amounts of fangirls. LOL;;; But I think it's good that it's small, because it felt really homey and cosy. I was also surprised that when we ordered sandwiches, they came with salads and potato wedges. And the way it was served was totally new and interesting!
The place is filled with pictures of Yesung and some things that fans have given him (like chibi figurines). I was more in love with the fact that the place was quiet (perhaps because it was at night), and that it was conducive enough for me to want to take out my sketchbook and draw (and thus maybe this is how some ELFs stalk the boys? HAHA!). I actually recognized his mother and brother, and they seemed to be nice and approachable people. His mother was actually sitting down and chatting to some girls when we arrived there. I think that's very nice - I didn't feel awkward or out of place.
- Random cafe in Ssamziegil -
I'm sorry, I didn't notice the name of this cafe, but we were only there to ask for directions. T_T I completely LOVED the interior, but we were too hungry to settle for cafe food. If anyone's interested, this place is on the 3rd (if I remember correctly) floor of Ssamziegil in Insadong. ^^
- Baskin Robbins -
Pistachio ice cream on a cold night still tastes awesome. Along with a hot cuppa of matcha green tea. :D Alas, I wouldn't return here on another cold day - ice cream is only good when it's summer! xD!!
The only reason why we ate at so many cafes is because it's easier for us Muslims to find food there. xD;;; But I'm not complaining, cos there are so MANY cafes in Seoul! It makes it so easy for me, cos whenever I'm hungry, I just drop by a cafe or bakery and grab something. The best thing is being able to eat in their trains and public transport. You can't do that in Singapore. :/ But yeah, it doesn't mean their trains are filthy. Instead, their trains are more pleasant to ride in than here. This complaint never gets old in Singapore: packed trains, irregular timings, etcetcetc. Once you've seen the transport system of another country (and it's better than home), you'll never be pleased again. Lol!
'Till the next Seoul post! :D I'm hungry now, looking at all those cafe food. T__T
