Cosplaying sounds so expensive, especially if makeup alone is so expensive.
Juggling...I could kind of do that as a kid, but I haven't done so in over a decade, and I can't say I had any skills. But good luck on getting back into it. And that would be a good exercise for your arms...hadn't thought about that. Perhaps you could fill balloons with flour or something semi-heavy, and juggle those until you get weighted balls? I don't know. :')
Dancing is a lot of fun. I like it, but I'm always self-conscious about it.
Being in a fun/good mood is awesome! ;)
Your cosplay rocks. :D I really have to admire anyone who makes outfits, because it looks like a lot of hard work. But it seems like you have so much fun, which is good! :D
Haha, well, normal makeup by itself is only regular expensive. It's just the fancy airbrush machine that I DON'T NEED and yet WANT. Haha~ Cosplaying itself is kind of expensive, but mainly because of props and wigs and extra things like that...I dunno. SO WORTH IT. ^_^~<3 This is the thing I love above just about all other things. Which is why it's worth the expense and the sleepless nights and the frustration. Haha!
Roy's best friend made me some AWESOME homemade balloon balls, but I have no idea where they went. To me, it's almost worth $8 not to have to try and force millet or beans or sand or whatever into a balloon, haha! But you're right. I should be eco-friendly and make my own. I'm sure there's a tutorial...
Ballroom dancing is THE BEST. Everyone should do it! ^____^
Airbrush makeup is amazing, yes. I've been so wanting a machine. Or just to make friends with someone who has one and knows how to work it so I can mooch like a terrible person.
As for makeup not coming off/rubbing all over things, a slightly cheaper option might be makeup sealant? I was looking into the same thing on Cosplay.com and everyone seems to be obsessed with some spray-on makeup sealer from Sephora that can apparently make makeup not smudge or smear for a whole day. I don't recall it being cheap, but cheaper than airbrush, and one can lasts a long time. Plus, you use it with the makeup you already have. :D
Also, you How to Train Your Dragon cosplay is still amazing. X3
Makeup sealant sounds scary, though. Like you'd suffocate, like in those Bond movies. ^_^; I really do need to go to a Sephora, though. Apparently certain ones do demos of those airbrush machines, which I'd like to see in person, and I could check out other options and ask questions and things.
I was wondering how your juggling was going. I agree, you could always make a temporary weighted ball. :3 Your hotel room looks so nice and spacious. *__* Your How to Train Your Dragon cosplays are so cute! I lol'd at treasure guarding Toothless. xD Still love the lines in the DGM outfits. ♥
P.S. I don't think you need super make up at all. :P
I think the largest appeal of the airbrush thing is for effect makeup...zomg, painting myself green by hand = DO NOT WANT. ^_^;
I'm gonna juggle today just for YOOOOOOOU~ At a friend's suggestion, I tried soup cans, but man, those are full of sharp edges. You don't think of soup cans as having sharp bits, but when you're throwing them, they totally do. Or maybe my hands are just wimpy...
Ooo my obaa-chan used to juggle! She had those little Japanese bean bags with a pretty fabric and I heard she juggled them (I can't remember actually seeing it ^^;) ... I imagine it's like the girl on AIR TV. But they were small and nice and soft and I bet they would be very not-painful to learn with? And possibly easy to make? With fabric and beans? :D
Dancing<3 mmm maybe someday... >.>; dancing muscles are the nicest :D so you won't need to worry about gym deshou?
(On a side tangent: I started using the first initial after my first college roommate caught my posting about her. She was like, "don't put my name online!" so I changed all my posts to just have her initial. Maa, there was more drama than that but it ended up with us becoming friends after months of not getting to know each other. XD)
(Ah~! Well, it's a good idea, anyway. I usually use nicknames or LJ names, but when I'm talking about coworkers and things...it's a good system! -steals it...-)
...You're right, I could just make little squares. That would be way easier. But I wonder what I could fill them with that would be heavy enough. I was thinking of sand, but then I was thinking of one of them exploding all over the floor and that didn't sound like a good idea anymore. ^_^;
Yeah, I suspect good make-up is a must. I've how people change the entire look of their face with contouring and stuff, just amazing. I suck pond water at make-up.
One of the best classes I took in college was flat pattern design, helped tremendously with costuming!
When I lived in LA, I wanted so much to break into the costume design industry so I worked in Equity Waiver theater (East/West Players) for a season. Mostly it was just pulling together pieces from the their collection of costumes and tweaking or tailoring. Sometimes we'd visit Western Costume (the old location/building) to rent pieces. Got some experience but I needed moneh! Sometimes I wish I'd stuck with costuming.
OMG I saw you guys on Friday and since I'd not see "How to Train Your Dragon" (I wanna see it), I didn't recognize the costumes.
And speaking of dancing, I love ballroom dancing from the 19th century. I used to attend dances every quarter or so. Do they do ballroom at Fanime's B&W Ball?
RIIIIIGHT?! I desperately, desperately want to take an effects makeup class. I got to be an old man last YCon and it was the best thing ever. I want to be good at it! I totally suck at all things makeup, which is why I do Miranda, LOL. The bigger the better, with that eyeliner, so I can just keep fixing my mistakes until I look like a raccoon and it's okay
