I love that. I really have to agree with you there. I always got that impression when I was in marching band. Sure, I hated the antics of most of the people there and we all wanted to murder each other in the 100+ heat and 30 - cold, but... The fact that over 200 students were capable of getting together on a field to produce something together was a little ray for me every year.
