Hello newcomers and oldcomers alike. Just letting you know that if anyone wants to hear any live music, I practice most nights at Sergei's bar and grill. My drummer should be around most nights too. If anyone else would like to try out for the band and help us round out, please let me know ... you can sometimes find instruments on deck 12 ... Oh ( Read more... )

[Leo will probably drop by to hear her play, though he'd most likely stick to leaning against some shadowed wall with his arms crossed in case Herz was there. If she happens to pass by when she's finished, though, he'll applaud.]

[Kate was practicing some intricate guitar work. A lot of it was failed ideas for solos, but there were some successes amongst them. She was trying things out since she thought there was no one around to have to impress.]

[Better than Leonardo can do. Once it's clear the room is empty (enough) he moves to have a seat closer to the stage (in plain view this time) so he can hear, an elbow on the table and his chin in his hand.]

Hi there Leonardo.

[She hadn't met any of the other turtles yet, though she had heard they were here. She hoped they didn't look too similar, but assumed they were. Hopefully they had some distinguishing visual characteristic, and not some smell or other weird non-human thing. She was over thinking this.]

[As she spoke to him, she continued playing. Hurray for multitasking.]

Do you like "rock and roll"?

[Like a few other words, she said those oddly.]

"My drummer". [He chuckles.] Well, glad to see you're enjoying yourself then.

[Gideon's joking, of course; he knows what she actually meant. Doesn't mean he can't play around a bit.]

Uh hu ... I was reading that the lead singer is the face of the band.

[He was teaching her how to be a bit more playful than she used to be.]

You sure you only meant that on an occupational level, firefly?

We-ell ... [She drew out those words.]

You did say you love me, so you are mine right? I'm yours too I hope ...

[She poked him in the chest with her index finger and grinned up at him.]

You people have jobs on this ship?

No, but some of us got really bored doing nothing. I'd be playing music on my own anyway, so I figured I might as well do it where someone can enjoy it.

[And performers live off of audiences really, but she wasn't going to say that.]

I... guess that makes sense.

Sorry, I... just... was a little confused. I thought you... actually had to be employed here.

No, only the crew are employed ...

I don't believe we've met. I'm Katherine ...

[What's nicer than a night of folksy music and alcohol? Not much, as far as Samuel can see. Of course, he can't see terribly much at the moment, walking as he is with his nose stuck in a playbill that he himself was beginning to pen.]

A shame that no one takes the time, anymore, isn't it, Samuel old boy, to make the proper event literature? Quite a shame indeed it is, Samuel my man!

[As he attempts to fold the paper- which had served previously and quite nobly as a cocktail napkin- into a neat little rectangle, he takes his third step into a wall that day.]

And a good thing too, you almost walked right past the pub!

[Finally, Samuel arrives at Sergei's Bar and Grille.]

[Kate was practicing as promised, on her acoustic this time. Rather than singing along, she was simply humming along with her music. She played what could only be described as a jaunty tune, a happy melodic piece with fast yet simple fingerwork.]

[When she saw Samuel walk in, she smiled and tried to play better. She had to perform for her audience.]

Welcome to Sergei's!

[Delighted, Samuel approaches Kate's corner.]

Ah, what do we have here? Quite a lovely young lady, isn't she? Well, go on now, Miss Kate. Let us have a listen!

[He takes a seat directly in front of her, still clenching his "program" tightly.]

[She paused her humming, and nearly slipped a note on her instrument as she considered the man momentarily. She wasn't sure if she had ever seen him in person, but his voice and cadence were easy to recognize.]

Samuel I presume?

[She continued with her folksy tune, playing what made her happy and nostalgic.]
