March 8th 2007's Recommen + March 10th 2007's Kiku + March 11th 2007's Tsuushin
Can’t guarantee that I’ll do this every week but...because :
1) After the Toma Bonanza, last week’s Recommen was just a bit mehhh
2) I also love the other members of Kanjani (so very much)…
3) …and also their other radio shows (quite a lot)
4) I’m procrastinatingggggg
I’m going to do short recaps of all three shows last week. (yes, there's actually one more, it's Hina+Kansaijuniors but it's only 10 minutes long and I seriously can't name more than 3 juniors [I know, for shame] so I don't think I'll write about that...but it's out there)
First off, RECOMMEN (haha, I know it’s just one m but my hands just keep adding a extra m)!
OPENING TALK =
Yoko and Okura made plans to go out and eat together. First all, they wanted to eat 博多の鍋 (some sort of hot pot with chicken), cause Yoko considers it one of his personal best 3 tasty foods. They went to one place, but reservations were full. So then they decided to just go for Yakiniku, but again, fully booked. So now Yoko’s determined to get some Yakiniku and they find a store that looks crazy expensive but goes inside anyways. Right after they enter the place, Yoko goes “Oh shit” cause the food is expensive and leaving now would be awkward. So they stay and eat. They’re deciding what to do after eating, and Yoko has the genius idea of a “Johnnys festival” and immediately calls Toma (Toma!) :
Yoko : What are you doing? Come over here.
Toma : Okkaay, where?
Yoko tells him the address.
Toma : That’s so far…
Yoko : Are you coming or not?!
Toma : I’m coming!
Yoko : Be here in 5 minutes.
Toma : 5 minutes?!#$%#^@
Then Yoko calls Aiba, but he’s already out with friends…
Yoko : So you’ve become too famous/remarkable (to hang with me) now eh? Though I still see you as 新宿少年探偵団 [Shinjuku shounen tanteidan] you. (NOTE : this detective boy show with Aiba+Jun+Yoko from 1998).
Aiba : That’s ancient! >> Hahahaahahahahahah, poor Yoko.
Yoko (on Recommen, to Hina) : I totally got tsukkomied there.
Then Nino is called :
Yoko : What is are doing?
Nino : Going home.
Yoko : Have you ate yet?
Nino : Yep.
Yoko : Wanna play some darts?
Nino : Sure, let’s go.
Hina makes fun of Yoko asking him “What kind of festival is this? Why didn’t you invite any senpais?” and Yoko answers him that he’s too nervous to.
So anyway, they go play darts.
Yoko : Okura was really having fun, he was all “Let’s play Haikei team versus SHOCK team!” so I yell at him, “Dude, you were never in SHOCK!” and he just goes “Ah, you found me out, hahaha.” Nino was really high tension too, and kept calling me Tokio (Yoko’s character name in Haikei…it’s Tokio right?), which made me get into too, I called him “お兄ちゃん[oniichan](older brother, what he calls Nino’s character in Haikei) the whole time. Afterwards, when I got home, I got a mail from Okura (I don’t know how to do those emoticons so) : [I had lots of fun today *heart* let’s go again *up arrow* thank you *music note*]
Hina : What kind of mail is that?! It’s as if it’s from your girlfriend!
Yoko : I know! When I got it I thought “why would he send me something this disgusting without warning?” but I sent him back : [Let’s go again *music note*] Hahahahahaha.
So yes, Yoko calls this the 横山会 [Yokoyama kai](Yokoyama club/party) to go against Hina’s NO BORDER. He wonders what to do with Toma, cause he’s in NO BORDER too, and he doesn’t want anyone from there = Hina (HAHAHAAH). And he seriously considers going on with this once every month, with him being the top guy and Okura the number two man. >> I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS
Tonight’s main project = in preparation for graduation, Yoko+Hina let girls practice their love confessions on them. (I didn’t get it at first, but isn’t graduation seen as the last chance to confess to the guy you like or something?) =
No going to write much about it but they’re both quite stupid throughout the whole thing, Yoko just keeps making kissy noises before/during/right after the girl confesses and Hina just cute in how bad he is in responding.

· It seems like they taped this right after the Dome Concert the day after…
· Talked a bit their thoughts on the concert : 45 000 people doing their dance moves along with them = touched, the “aaarehodo” part in RainyBlues was very pretty, penlights looked like stars, Maru saying 380 degrees instead of 360…
· On their upcoming tour = Okura :(About the name えっ！ホンマ！？ビックリ！！TOUR ２００７= Ehh! Really!? What a surprise! 2007) How long must we keep (being) surprising?
Opening song = Zukkoke Otoko Michi
2) Kikemero - each member picks a song and then say something that “they’ll say only here” that usually relates to the song they pick in some way.
Maru = Hirai Ken’s “Kiss of Life”
Maru : When I go home, it’s kisses every time I walk in. >> Something is up. Maru mentions here and also have in other places how he’s been working a lot in Tokyo and doesn’t get to go back to Kyoto often. Drama?! Drama?! Drama?! Hell, I’ll even take an hour TV Special….anything with Maruuuuuuuuuuu.
Okura : With who?

Okura : Because it’s 3 boys in my family, I’ve always wanted a sister. I used to listen to my dad sing this song a lot. >> I thought he only had a younger brother…
Okura talks about how because he’s filming that killersnakepuppet special with Higashiyama and TOKIO’s Mabo, they took him along to sing Karaoke and praised his singing voice. Then Maru cuts in to say that he ran into Mabo in Tokyo and went up to him to say his greetings…
Mabo : Who are you?
Maru : I’m Kanjani’s…
Mabo: Ahhh, at Countdown! You’re that Anamaru!
Maru : Nono, I’m…
Mabo : Nakamaru! >> Didn’t they caption Maru with that during the Year of the Boar thing?
Maru : No, not Nakamaru…it’s Maruyama!
Then Okura has more sad news.
Okura : I’m going to say something sad okay? Matsuoka-kun said to me “Kanjani…there’s Subaru right? Yokoyama…Murakami…you(Okura)…Nishishido” he doesn’t remember Yasu so I reminded him “Ah…Yasuda…and there’s that guy I met at that shop…Marugawa!” >>HAHAHAAH, OH MAN, TWICE!
3) Telling lies - one member makes up a question about himself with three possible answers and gives explanations of each one (lying for two of the answers), and the other guy has to try guess the correct one. It’s like playing two lies and one truth… actually, that’s exactly it.
Maru : When I was young, what game was I obsessed with?
A) Puyopuyo
B) Batting Center
C) Mario
Anyway, he explains each answer. Okura guesses A, it’s C.
When he was a kid, Maru’s parent’s only let him play video games for a while on Saturday nights.
Okura : Why?
Maru : My parents said they make you stupid.
Okura : But in the end you did become stupid! >>HAHAHAA
Maru : Who's stupid?!
Okura : Hahahahaa.
Maru : I can’t really do good comebacks…
But Maru gets his revenge, cause Okura guesses wrong and is at -2 points now.
This is a pretty new game…so not sure what the punishment is, but for the old ones, it’s senburi tea (that bitter tea they have to drink on Seven Okans).
4) Yomeota - they read mail from listeners and answer their questions.
Mail = “What are you not that good at doing?”
Okura : Dealing with the atmosphere when my jokes fall flat.
5) EcoRanger - Before they’ll have each member record a line or two about pretty much anything and play it before/after commercials, they called it “Eito Jingle” or something but Yoko+Ryo started this EcoRanger thing (to save the world!) the week before, they did a quiz on conserving the environment…but it doesn’t seem like they did anything this week…
6) Ending talk -
Okura is mean to Maru some more, telling him that he’s very un-Maru today. Maru “PANNNNNN”s and ends the show calling himself “Maruyama RyuHEYY!” to appear more Maru-like.
And finally! Murakami Shingo’s Shuukan Kanjani Tsuushin (Weekly Kanjani Correspondance)!
So the show is Hina + 3 other members = 4 people every week. They tape a couple shows in one sitting, so it’s the same people 3 or 4 weeks in a row. There’s a short intro talk in the beginning, then they either do:
1) psychological tests sent in by listeners (funfunfun)
2) would you rather… sent in by listeners [this is just…ace. can’t really explain its awesomeness cause they didn’t do it last week, but they’ll get questions from “Would you rather for the rest of your life to be bald or have loonnng hair?” to “Would you rather hear the hard truth or sweet lies?” but they treat each question (even the very silly ones) seriously and sometimes even argue with each other about their answers]
3) answer mail from listeners about their worries/troubles
4) special projects
and sometimes…(or is it every week?) they have this segment where they talk about a girl comic book (comic book targeted to teenage girls) that they have to read… these are pretty boring, except if Yoko’s there, then he’ll get everyone off-topic.
Last week was 4) special project - they’re given situations (usually boy-girl related) and have to come up with a “manly line” and girls that work on the show or in the radio station would vote on to see who’s the smoothest.

2) Kikemero - each member picks a song and then say something that “they’ll say only here” that usually relates to the song they pick in some way.
Maru = Hirai Ken’s “Kiss of Life”
Maru : When I go home, it’s kisses every time I walk in. >> Something is up. Maru mentions here and also have in other places how he’s been working a lot in Tokyo and doesn’t get to go back to Kyoto often. Drama?! Drama?! Drama?! Hell, I’ll even take an hour TV Special….anything with Maruuuuuuuuuuu.
Okura : With who?
Maru : You want to hear? My (younger) brother and sister. >> AWWWWWWWWWWWW
Okura : Can I go now? >> HAHA
Okura = Minami Kosetsu’s “Imouto yo (young sister)”
Okura : Because it’s 3 boys in my family, I’ve always wanted a sister. I used to listen to my dad sing this song a lot. >> I thought he only had a younger brother…
Okura talks about how because he’s filming that killersnakepuppet special with Higashiyama and TOKIO’s Mabo, they took him along to sing Karaoke and praised his singing voice. Then Maru cuts in to say that he ran into Mabo in Tokyo and went up to him to say his greetings…
Mabo : Who are you?
Maru : I’m Kanjani’s…
Mabo: Ahhh, at Countdown! You’re that Anamaru!
Maru : Nono, I’m…
Mabo : Nakamaru! >> Didn’t they caption Maru with that during the Year of the Boar thing?
Maru : No, not Nakamaru…it’s Maruyama!
Then Okura has more sad news.
Okura : I’m going to say something sad okay? Matsuoka-kun said to me “Kanjani…there’s Subaru right? Yokoyama…Murakami…you(Okura)…Nishishido” he doesn’t remember Yasu so I reminded him “Ah…Yasuda…and there’s that guy I met at that shop…Marugawa!” >>HAHAHAAH, OH MAN, TWICE!
3) Telling lies - one member makes up a question about himself with three possible answers and gives explanations of each one (lying for two of the answers), and the other guy has to try guess the correct one. It’s like playing two lies and one truth… actually, that’s exactly it.
Maru : When I was young, what game was I obsessed with?
A) Puyopuyo
B) Batting Center
C) Mario
Anyway, he explains each answer. Okura guesses A, it’s C.
When he was a kid, Maru’s parent’s only let him play video games for a while on Saturday nights.
Okura : Why?
Maru : My parents said they make you stupid.
Okura : But in the end you did become stupid! >>HAHAHAA
Maru : Who's stupid?!
Okura : Hahahahaa.
Maru : I can’t really do good comebacks…
But Maru gets his revenge, cause Okura guesses wrong and is at -2 points now.
This is a pretty new game…so not sure what the punishment is, but for the old ones, it’s senburi tea (that bitter tea they have to drink on Seven Okans).
4) Yomeota - they read mail from listeners and answer their questions.
Mail = “What are you not that good at doing?”
Okura : Dealing with the atmosphere when my jokes fall flat.
5) EcoRanger - Before they’ll have each member record a line or two about pretty much anything and play it before/after commercials, they called it “Eito Jingle” or something but Yoko+Ryo started this EcoRanger thing (to save the world!) the week before, they did a quiz on conserving the environment…but it doesn’t seem like they did anything this week…
6) Ending talk -
Okura is mean to Maru some more, telling him that he’s very un-Maru today. Maru “PANNNNNN”s and ends the show calling himself “Maruyama RyuHEYY!” to appear more Maru-like.

So the show is Hina + 3 other members = 4 people every week. They tape a couple shows in one sitting, so it’s the same people 3 or 4 weeks in a row. There’s a short intro talk in the beginning, then they either do:
1) psychological tests sent in by listeners (funfunfun)
2) would you rather… sent in by listeners [this is just…ace. can’t really explain its awesomeness cause they didn’t do it last week, but they’ll get questions from “Would you rather for the rest of your life to be bald or have loonnng hair?” to “Would you rather hear the hard truth or sweet lies?” but they treat each question (even the very silly ones) seriously and sometimes even argue with each other about their answers]
3) answer mail from listeners about their worries/troubles
4) special projects
and sometimes…(or is it every week?) they have this segment where they talk about a girl comic book (comic book targeted to teenage girls) that they have to read… these are pretty boring, except if Yoko’s there, then he’ll get everyone off-topic.
Last week was 4) special project - they’re given situations (usually boy-girl related) and have to come up with a “manly line” and girls that work on the show or in the radio station would vote on to see who’s the smoothest.
Alright, last Sunday the members were =

They look at the judges (there’s 6 of them), Ryo asks who’s a masochist, Hina points one certain girl who hasn’t raised her hand yet (they did this project for Valentine’s Day too) and they all comment how she only bitterly laughed at all their answers before.

Hina (Oh! He doesn’t get to participate, just MC): For White Day, what to say when you give a present to the girl who gave you something for Valentines?
Suba makes Hina give an example…
Hina : Thank you.

Ryo volunteers to go first, he says this is what he’ll say in real life too…

Yasu : From a M(asochist’s) point of view, they probably can’t resist this…

Yasu : Ahahaha, there are two (masochists)!

Yasu : Thank you for the meal, the same thing again tomorrow please!
Because the way Japanese works, the question could mean both after the meal or after the first bite, Hina+Suba thinks it’s the latter and they start yelling at him, but Ryo thinks it means the same as Yasu so both interpretations are okay.

Suba : That girl’s weird!
Suba : …please get me a second helping.
Hina+Yasu+Ryo : Ohh, that’s gooooood

Yasu : But it’s a good thing even for guys to hear.

Ryo : Hmm, next! >> he’s a bit miffed about what Yasu said about his line.

Ryo : Noo way! Ahhh, it’s those M people over there! They’ve been just swaying back and forth smiling!

Suba : Sorry, but my cell phone’s batteries ran out, could I borrow yours for a second? …Ah, it’s no good, I got the listening machine… this is my phone number. >> XD

Ah, they did the comics thing…which somehow lead to talk about cell phones. It seems that Hina’s parent’s house has reception now (I remembered them saying how Hina lived outside the service area before…somewhere).
They end the show with Subaru’s declaration that it is with “resolute determination” that he really likes T-backs.
OH! I JUST NOTICED HOW ALL THE MEMBERS WERE ON RADIO LAST WEEK. YAYYY.
