Political commentators

I don't care whether the President is convincing people that things are going well. I don't care what he needs to do to improve his poll ratings, or if his speech will improve his popularity or help reduce criticism on Iraq. I don't care what the public thinks of the Democratic criticism and alternatives (or of anything else, actually). In short, I don't give a damn which political party is winning.

What I do care about is this. Is what the President (or his critics, or any other politician) is saying true? Is there more detail or context that was left out? Is it good for the country? What are the costs and trade-offs? Is there a better solution?

So dear political commentators, the reason I leave the room within minutes of the end of the speech is that you tell me nothing about reality and I don't give a crap about public perception, except as it confirms my contempt for the general intelligence of my country. A single episode of a well-written sitcom or sci-fi show is of more value than everything that the lot of you will say about the President's speech over the next week combined.

That's assuming you can find a well-written show anymore, but that's another rant.

So basically, once the speech finishes, shut up and get us back to regular programming, because you aren't saying anything worth hearing.

Hell, I'm not sure the speech itself was worth canceling Commander in Chief.
