CNN had a segment tonight on the Pope's recent comments on Islam. First they show the Pope speaking at a German university, where he says "Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." News pertaining to the Muslim community will always be better coming from the UK as they have a VERY large muslim community which they do their best to keep calm and ignore the fact that some of them are extremeists until they blow something up, but I digress. Yeah, I still read CNN and the New York Times in addition to the BBC because they all have their own biases.

True. I'm resigned to biases, but is it too much to ask that they give some context?

Hey Ken,

Read your article and I pretty much agree with you. I will say that if Muslim world is up in arms over the taken-out-of-context part and not the whole thing (not that they should be), then they're fueling an uproar over a news bite, which is ridiculous.

...however, the fact our christian-based corporate-controlled country keeps picking fights with middle eastern countries (afghanistan war, Iraq war, Poking at Iran now) but leaving places like North Korea and Darfur out of our minds, I could see why the muslim community and islamic community might be a little aggravated.

But overall that quote should be disregarded since the whole was not disrespectful and once again the media picks scandalous ratings-grabber over truth of concept. Blech.
