Two things that disturb me

Jan 13, 2007 11:08

1. The current surge in troop levels brings us back to where we were two years ago. No more.

2. No one mentioned this on the day of the speech; I heard about it from the Daily Show.

Auntie Charlotteb_ said we can't because he hasn't broken the law. Yet.

Mommy said something about "They did it to Clinton" but I don't know what that means.

I wouldn't worry about it, Luca -- whatever happens to the human government, the cats will still be in control.

I'm not sure that your auntie is entirely correct, but that's another debate entirely.

The war in iraq bothers me. 'Cause other than the war, I don't think the pres is all bad. But the army isn't even treated right ( ... )

I'm with you on the military treatment -- my brother is getting less than a year off, being sent back just before he should be finished with his term, and then getting stop-lossed for almost a year. However, I go a good deal farther in my dislike of this war -- I don't think we should ever have gone in the first place.

I'll give Bush the benefit of the doubt on WMDs -- I was as surprised as him that we didn't find them. But there was no evidence, ever, that Saddam was working with Al-Queda, and to the best of my knowledge none that he was working with any other anti-American terrorist, either. Lacking that, we have this thing called deterrence: "Hey, you have big weapons. So do we. You stay off our turf, we'll stay off yours mmkay?"

And then, of course, once we went in the whole situation was handled terribly. But I'm not going to get started on that.
