I smashed three fingers in the safe at work today - my middle finger took the brunt of it, though.  My nail is purple and the back of my finger also has a purple hue to it.  The first doctor looked at the x-ray and told me I had a hairline fracture, then the next doctor said he didn't think I did.  They said the treatment was the same, put a splint

I'm supposed to use it at work for a week...I have a feeling if it doesn't hurt I'll ditch it before that. I have a tour coming up with the Mercer faculty and I really need to be practicing, wich is my bigger concern right now. Of course I did it to my right hand, the one I actually need! Mark was excited because I could still play guitar hero...too bad that won't pay our future bills!

Yeah, I've found that ERs absolutely suck, or at least the ones I've been to recently. It's hard to feel like they're treating you to the best of their capacity when you watch the nurses stand around gabbing, and the doctor only spends 5 minutes with you. I hope your fingers feel better soon.

Ugh - that sucks! I'm sorry you have to deal with that.

If you lose the nail, invest in some pretty band-aids for your finger. I jammed my fingers in the locking joint of choir risers when I was in ninth grade - hurt like a mofo - and I had to wear band-aids for a while.

Thanks - I'm really hoping I don't lose the nail, it always looks so gross! The said there wasn't enough blood to drain it - I think icing it from the start, Advil and keeping it above my heart really helped from allowing too much to build up and pool there, so we'll see what happens.
