Any seal hunt is inhumane - in just the same way as whale hunting is. It always surprises me that such an enlightened country as Canada still allows it - do seal-hunters have a very big vote, or do other Canadians get a kick out of keeping the tradition alive?

You are quite right - although hunting with dogs has been illegal in my country - the Isle-of-Man, which is independant and not part of the UK, of course - for the last seventeen or eighteen years. And the UK banned hunting with dogs a year ago - longer in Scotland. Hunts still ride out, but do not rip foxes limb from limb any more. I would have included it in my list of barbaric forms of hunting but have no idea in which other countries it is still legal.
Many people in the UK do try to keep the tradition of hunting with dogs alive and protest loudly at the fact that the government banned it - but the government did indeed ban it, listening to those who found it unacceptable.

The seal hunt in Canada is neither inhumane nor horrible.
PETA and Greenpeace are liars. Check out the view of the WWF on it if you dont trust the Canadian government's words on it.
