Yeah, we lost out in this year's lotto, too. Which I suppose is okay, over the winter our tent took some raccoon+cat damage that may not be repairable, so we'll have to outlay for a new tent or dome.
In our neighborhood (decidedly more rural) there's more than one house with chickens! Sammi would really like to raise chickens, but our hillside needs too much work. But I don't think it's as unusual as it was a few years ago. Which is good, right?
That... is actually pretty dang interesting. And my area has a lot of folks advocating for more keepers to help out the bee population. But man, I know NOTHING in that arena, nor the rules in my area for it, so I'd have to do a lot of research first!
And my yard is a citrus bomb all by itself, so yeah. Turns out it'd require a permit (but it's easy to get), it's common in my neighborhood (go figure!) and there's even two local beekeeping supply stores with free classes. I might just drop in on one of those classes to see what's what.
