Tulane lies about your room condition (rooms not on the first floor were damaged) and your stuff DOES go missing (I met people whose laptops and jewelry were stolen). All they do is tell you to fill out a form for the missing stuff

I have to agree with just1boy. I was pretty pissed off to realize that half of my room had been packed and identified incorrectly, that my luggage had been opened (when I made sure it was closed) I had a box of CDs missing and was generally unimpressed with the way we were given to retrieve our things. I had to ask the guys on the moving trucks multiple times to check for my room number, as I had a GIANT suitcase and 3 storage bins full of belongings they forgot to bring to me

I went back to Tulane on Friday. Nothing in my room had been touched. A little suction cup hanging rack that I had put on my window was STILL SUCTIONED ON TO THE WINDOW. Everything was EXACTLY as I had left it, with no mold or anything. My TV was still there, my DVD player was still there, and my iPod was still there. I was incredibly pleased with the way things were handled. I was in and out of there with all my stuff in less than an hour.
omg. im so jealous. what floor of JL were you on? i was first floor evens and my stuff was all boxed up. and my best friend was 3rd floor even and her stuff was left as is...
i went to my dorm yesterday, and nothing was missing. the only thing different was that my desk was moved a few inches, but i'm guessing that was when they went through the rooms to check on things. i think they have it hard enough just to have to check everything, not to mention make sure it's all "pretty" when you get back. as long as nothing's broken in your boxes, there's no problem. and, PERHAPS, the "professional boxing" was done for people living in OTHER dorms than yours. yours isn't the only situation, and what tulane said about the boxing and small amounts of damage are most probably true, even if not about your particular situation or the few people you talked to. there are MANY dorms, and talking to a few people whose dorms were damaged doesn't mean it's happened a lot.
I visited my room and it was PERFECT. nothing smelled. my bed was untouched my tv headphones ipod sunglasses EVERYTHING... exactly wher i left them. I was In Butler on the fourth floor, all the other rooms I saw loked in order also....
Yeah you are lucky (all of my stuff is in your RA's room right now). Some of the Butler kids didn't fare so well. Your AD Joe is a great guy and the people working in Butler seemed genuinely trustworthy unlike the other people i met.
I didn't mean to imply that EVERYONE was in the same situation, i was just blowing some steam off.

Mayer was damaged severely as was Wall, Willow and Aron. Butler which had no rooms on the ground floor had 20-30 rooms damaged.
However, JL Sharp and Mo seem to have missed any major damage.
