these are my roommates. i thought this picture was neat because i've never been in a picture with anyone who did the sideways peace sign before. who instituted that move? what does it mean? what is she saying? my next google search will be "sideways peace sign like lindsay lohan circa 2004". i'm not disparaging anyone - i love my roommates. even though we look pixel-y.

eric and brendan. eric squires around "50 most beautiful people on the hill" hotties and brendan listens to the disco bisquits and acts like dave chapelle's impersonation of rick james all the time (throwing peanuts at cars, flailing about without a care).

we like those 'crane your neck away from the camera' shots. they're impossible to do with a polaroid instamatic camera. learned that the hard way.

this one freaks me out to look at because it looks to me like i'm making an obscene gesture/flashing a gang sign. but it is my INDEX FINGER. also. i love matthew.

matt lives in a mystical land of no utility bills and a bi-weekly maid service. also random book deposits that don't officially belong to anyone. also a pool table. he likes to make people feel bad about it. he likes to say "in your face" to me, about not having a pool table, all the time. actually i'm kidding. i haven't utilized that pool table yet, but i will.

brendan was the only person who wouldn't try vegemite - i find this shot hilarious because he's got vegemite on his chin due to the scuffle. might as well give in to the vegemite.

i find this picture wonderful for some reason. maybe he's mad because i skipped through his ipod playlist to land upon "land down under" and then he missed out on zach playing the beegees.

that, sir - that's a good pout.

my mom bought me these weird shoes for christmas with ruffle trim all around - i feel like a frenchman at royal court in the 17th century. also - that's a real clean floor.

that is matt's roommate zach - he works at a think tank. which is code for "smart person".

it's not a party without one team blurry pout effort.

i walked by this strip of government offices on my trip to matt's a few weeks ago. little neon-lit cells, just a block away from the smithsonians. they were overwhelming in their scope and orderliness. it is incentive to plod along with everything i'm planning. people i speak with respect what i'm planning to do and it means a lot to me.

this is the lone carousel on the national mall, and perhaps the lone carousel in the district? i don't know what they do with it in the winter, but in the warmer months little kids on break from the museums scrabble for specific horses and it plays a melody to rival any similar set-ups in paris. i like how you can wander in the middle of the city, capitol building to the left and washington monument to the right, and still be completely alone.

church spire in the sunset - it looks out at the white house - every president since madison has attended service there.

no matter what you feel about our current government, it is humbling to live two miles from such history. i don't know how many years we'll live here, but these years we'll get to spend here makes me feel very lucky indeed.
