I've started getting materials ready for applying to the JET program. I have to get 2 reference letters from professors. It's awkward for me to ask for them because I don't really know any of my professors here well. It's almost like asking strangers to write good things about me. I hope they won't mind doing this favor for me.

Dalai Lama speech is tomorrow. I'll have to miss one of my classes for it. I sent an email to my professor about it and this is what he replied:
Thanks for the note. It is much more important to see and hear this
extraordinary man.
I thought it was an interesting choice of words.
