I have arrived in Guatemala. I got a ride from Sofia at 530am to the Boston airport, and arrived in Guatemala City at 100. I took a taxi to a bus station, and rode a ¨1st class¨ but that had a lot of commuters on it to Xela. It was a four hour ride, and I arrived around 7pm. Thanks for the tips on Guate. Maybe I will be in Guate when the shipment arrives--I will be here until July 24.
Its funny that you mentioned coffee flower honey and Communidad Nueva Esperanza, because I actually supported a really similar finca-turned-community land project called La Florida. The folks there got kicked off of their finca, then decided to occupy another bankrupt finca until the government helped them to purchase it. They have similar ecotourism stuff going on, and also sell honey! El miel esta muy delicioso.
I hiked Vulcan Santa Maria today and I think I will be sore for two days now. haha.
