Unify
Sakurai Sho opened his eyes slowly, his right hand protecting his pupils from the attacking bright light. It took his vision a while to adapt, only for him to realize that he was inside a white room with a white table and white chairs. Even he wearing a white suit, white shoes, and even a white bow-tie. The only thing that wasn't white was a single rose in his left chest pocket. It was red, red like the wine, with some tiny drops of water on its petals.
He wasn't done feeling confused when the white door behind him was pushed open, and he saw Aiba Masaki, Matsumoto Jun and Ohno Satoshi entering the room with beams forming on their lips.
"Sho-san!" Jun was the first person speaking. "Congratulations!" he added, while he gave the caster a warm hug. Sho narrowed his eyes.
"I was really shocked when you told me, Sho-chan!" it was Aiba's turn to talk. "I wish you'd tell me sooner, but heck, I don't care anymore, I'm just... Oh, I'm too happy for you. Congrats!" Another hug landed on Sho's body.
"Sho-kun, congratulations," Ohno smiled and gave the confused man another embrace. "I never thought that you would be the first among us," he added with a soft punch on Sho's shoulder. "Congrats again!"
This had made the rapper wanted more and more to ask, but somehow... Somehow, he couldn't bring himself to, seeing the gleeful faces of his friends. It felt like he would ruin them if he asked.
Then something hit him.
"Um... Where's Nino?"
There was an awkward 3-second silence after Sho asked that, when Aiba suddenly laughed, followed by Jun and Ohno.
"You can't meet him yet! If you see him now, it'll be bad luck. Nino's told you countless times!" the animal-lover said with a pat on Sho's back. "I know you can't wait to meet him, but just be patient this time."
He can't meet Nino until... when? For what reason? He was expecting his friends to answer "Nino's in the bathroom", but unexpectedly it made things more confusing...
"You're nervous, aren't you?" Jun snickered, then handed Sho a can of beer "Here. It'll help a bit. Just take a sip, don't drink too much or you'll run this special day."
Special day? But... Their 10th anniversary concert had been done. He had graduated from college a long time ago. His... birthday? If it was birthday, they wouldn't make such a huge fuss. And he wouldn't wear a white suit like this.
Wait... White suit?
And the greetings...
It couldn't be...
"Am I... getting married?"
There was another awkward silence, but this time it took them a little longer to realize what he was saying. It was, unexpectedly, Ohno who patted him first on the back.
"I've been told that brides often go through emotional stages and become denial seconds before the wedding, but this is the first time I hear a groom feeling like that." The other two members also patted him, and the leader added, "That's okay. This is one big step in your life, and I think it's completely fine you feel that way right now. But you have to get yourself together quickly, 'kay?"
Oh, wedding. Of course! It was his wedding. It made perfect sense now. The suit, the greetings... Oh. It left one big problem, though.
"Who am I marry --" his sentence got cut off when a pastor came into the room, telling them it was time for the ceremony.
"Ganbatte ne. You can do this," Aiba said, followed by a soft slap to his head.
"Don't say it like he's going to go through some life-threatening operation, baka," Jun said to Aiba. He then turned his head to Sho, who was still standing, unable to say anything. "Congrats once again, Sho-san."
The three left the room. "Let's go to the altar," the pastor said, smiling. Still trying hard to remember if he'd even had a girlfriend, Sho followed the pastor's guidance to the holy place.
Standing on the altar, he looked around quickly, skimming the faces of the guests in the church. His family. Some friends from high school, college, sempai dan kouhai from Johnny's... And he realized that Aiba was his best man, while Ohno was standing in the bridesmaid place. Wait -- shouldn't bridesmaid be a female? After all, it was called bridesmaid... Oh, this wasn't the time to think of that. He had to find out who he was marrying.
The gate opened slowly. Sho's heart was racing. A slim, slender figure in a wedding gown began to walk slowly entering the room. Beside the bride was a man that Sho was familiar with, but he couldn't put a name on the face. Was he marrying... his dad's friend's daughter... or something?
Sho was trying hard to see the bride's face, but failed as the face was covered by a veil. It left no choice but to see the face when the pastor told them to kiss..
"You may now kiss the bride," the pastor suddenly said, and Sho turned his head to him, both surprised and confused. Shouldn't there be speeches like "Do you, Sakurai Sho, promise to take the bride as your wife..." and et cetera? Why did they suddenly skip to the kiss?
The crowd began to buzz when Sho didn't make any move for a minute. Behind him, Aiba whispered quite loudly, "Sho-chan, what are you doing?"
"H-huh? Oh, yeah," Sho said as he was brought back to reality. He placed his hands on the veil, as he felt his heart bumping harder and harder. He had to open it. It was now or never.
Taking a deep breath, he opened the veil slowly as he leaned forward...
---
"Eeh?? You dreamed about getting married last night?"
"Sssh! Your voice is too loud!" Sho shushed the blonde man beside him, placing a finger on his lips. "I mean, it's not like it's embarrassing or anything, it's just.. I don't know, weird for me to dream things like that."
"That might be a sign, you know," Aiba smirked, and Sho blushed faintly at the statement.
"Wh-what are you talking about? I don't even have a girlfriend right now."
"This might be a sign that you're going to meet your destined person, y'know!" Aiba laughed a bit, placing soft punches on Sho's sloping shoulder.
"What are you, a psychic suddenly?" Sho grumbled, which made the younger man laughed again.
"Then? In your dream --" Aiba said, snickering. "-- who did you marry?"
Sho felt the temperature of his face increased rapidly, and he knew, without even seeing, that his face was as red as a beetroot. "W-well, that's --"
"Ooh, Sho-san, Aiba-chan!" a somewhat-cheerful voice greeted from behind. The two men turned their heads, and found Nino walking toward them. "Good morning~"
"Good morning," Aiba and Sho spontaneously replied in unison.
"I wonder what's for breakfast -- ah, Sho-san, your face is bright red.. Are you okay?" Nino looked at the older man worriedly, then put a hand on his forehead, only to send goosebumps all over Sho's body.
"I - I - I'm okay!" Sho said -- almost shrieked -- as he moved away, hiding his face. He then realized that he just startled his two friends, and quickly apologized, "I - I'm sorry, I think I need some fresh air. Sorry. I'll go get breakfast later." Without waiting for any response, he briskly went away.
"What's with him?" Nino asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I dunno. All I know that he dreamed about marrying someone last night."
"Ah... Eh?"
---
"You may now kiss the bride."
Slowly, Sho opened the veil of the bride in front of him. Wait -- he knew that jaw... and lips. After all, he had been observing them for quite a while now... And when the face was completely uncovered...
"What --"
Before he could finish his sentence, the bride leaned forward with a smirk, placing his lips on Sho's for a quick kiss. He pulled back before Sho even realized what was going on, then winked to the pastor, who then nodded understandingly.
"Sakurai Sho and Ninomiya Kazunari, I now pronounce you husband and wife."
period.
