i pissed off my philosophy class by trying to go through a socratic dialog, which means that, in a room full of bright, competitive people, i was proving their beliefs wrong by forcing them to say "yes" or "no" to questions that they knew were their own downfall ( Read more... )

How about perfume?

My dad says that the biggest wastes of money in life are alcohol, food, and perfume
yet
this doesn't keep us from frittering Away our (his) money on these things.

Sam...we were pissed off at you because you refused to admit that YOU were wrong. You argued about the liguistics of a question that you weren't reading like the rest of the class was. Had you taken the 3 seconds to think about what we were saying, you would have seen that we ALL were right in our own ways. Me matey..don't dog it 'til you try it ;).

Actually, Sam, it depends on what kind of alcohol. If you're curious enough to actually wonder about things like that, you might appreciate this. And Soma's dad is right. Perfume is indeed one of the most expensive liquids that you can buy. Of course that's if you consider price per volume and not price per use... Although some people use enough of it that there's no difference. What are these stinky people trying to hide?
