i havent been to a show in months, yea it makes me sad. but i've realized ive outgrown the scene i grew up with since 6th grade. there are still venues and shows i can go to when i have money, but its more indie stuff with people older than me, but i dig it.
i guess graduating and getting ready to move out has made me look at things diffrent. realizing i have to support myself and do shit on my own.
i cant bloody wait for the myspace generation kids to realize there is a world past myspace and fake blond or black hair and gaudy jewlery or being known by your name + dumb adjective. they thought it was cool to go homeschool or drop out...i can't fucking wait to laugh at them someday when they too hit the point that they grow out of this shit.
sry i just vented on your lj..i guess i should make one of these posts myself.
I couldn't imagine not going to shows on a regular basis. But yeah, I obviously just graduated too and going to college may change things. I really hope it doesn't, but when it comes down to responsibility and a show, I'd probably pick responsibility because I don't want to screw this up.
Ughhh. Seriously. I swear, every single scene kid on myspace is THE SAME. And I'm so sick of people who have black AND blonde hair. I thought it was interesting on the first couple of people, but I never said it was pretty, haha. I don't know, though - MySpace is great for communicating with people in my opinion, but it really seriously bothers me when people make it their lives. I wonder when they're going to grow up.

That doesnt make me feel like shit at all
you act like I cant read it, and even if you posted it in spite of me, you act like im not intellegent enough to realize that I fit under most of those categories in your opinion.
OH MY GOD. I seriously want to kill people who do the &&&& thing. Seriously, haha. I can't believe I forgot that! Aww iloveyou too! I'm going to orientation tomorrow -- eeek school starts soon!
i dont know. you dont have to approve of the scene, but at least let them do their thing, even if it is repetitive and annoying, which I know, it is. Just let it go.
I understand how you feel. In general I hate scene kids. And I used to be one of them. I just threw out half of my band shirts. There are some that I love that I can't part with though. I just think after a while you grow up and grow out of that whole ordeal. My love for music and going to concerts will never ever end, but I don't want to be involved with being a clone anymore
( ... )
Yeah, I used to be one of them, too, not so much though as the snobby ones who have the really weird hair and all that stuff. I love wearing band shirts and supporting bands, but I've definitely gotten away from doing it all the time. I've definitely found my own identity.
HAHA I know what you mean. It seriously feels so weird.
Yeah, I like some of them a lot, too, and they're some of the most fun bands to see live. But it's just getting old. They're all starting to sound the same.
I think in order to find originality in ourselves we must explore what is already there, what trends, what music, what style. There is no handbook, and some people tend to think there is. I think taking certian parts of many differant trends and cultures is what build originality and what builds a person. I think you do not know the entire scene, and must realize there is more to people then clothes and music, I am not saying I disagree, but I don't think it would be right to judge as a whole, because Sarah my good friend you fall under many many of those same standards, trends and music you judge so harshly on. And you critize those around you so harshly sometimes before you even know the real person. I don't want to lay down details or to make this comment a rant about you, because its pety
( ... )
I understand that, and I understand what you're saying. I wouldn't have found out the person I really am if I hadn't gone through my own "scene" phase a while back. But back then, it wasn't a trend. I'm not saying the people I'm talking about have no brains or whatever. I don't think you're noticing that the main thing I'm talking about is that everything is the same. There's not much originality anymore. Some of my best friends fall under those categories, and I love them just the same. I'm not going to shun someone just because they have big sunglasses and a dyed black choppy bob, because I know that they can be a fun person. So though I understand what you're saying, I don't think you're understanding the point of my rant. In my opinion, I don't think I'm harshly judging. I'm just pointing out that the thing that was all about NOT being a trend, IS now. It's just not as fun anymore.

Don't really get why you're saying you agree and understand but also saying that I shouldn't state my opinion?
