Do you have a bike? Cause you could cycle the two miles and then not pay the parking...

I actually usually just park really far away and walk into town, which nearly defeats the purpose of driving. My cunning plan: I am going to get one of those Razor scooters and scooter into town. If I biked, I'd have to stay in the bike lane, and at night there is a muy treacherous curve I'd have to go around. But if I scooter... sidewalk!! I have a gift certificate to Amazon, too, so it would be like a FREE scooter!

relax my dear!

and maybe for every dollar you spend, keep track and put that much into a savings account as well. maybe that will help you feel better?

but i mean, you have a job, you are making money, you are saving so much money by still living at home. ALLOW YOURSELF TO LIVE! it sounds like you are doing a very modest job of it and that is good and guilt-free!

Clearly, Nicole, you are not aware of my caviar-and-champagne fueled diamond buying binges!!!

No, I suppose you're right (I just typed "write." You might be write, too). I'm saving nearly 80% of what I make right (write?) now, and I have no qualms about spending the other 20% on plane tickets... so why not some yarn? Except for the fact that I have a closet full of it. But you know how that goes.

TRUE STORY I just started a knitting group at my new job!! We already have six members! I don't know when we're going to meet, but it's going to be super awesome!

diamond's are a girl's best friend!

i do the same thing. i will take money out of my savings to buy a plane ticket without blinking an eye (okay, that's a lie but JUST A FEW BLINKS) and then i will be in teh store and i am like "FIVE NINETY-NINE FOR TWELVE ROLLS OF TOILET PAPER!?!? WHAT A RIP OFF! I HATE LIFE!"

so. yeah. I HEAR YA.

and way to go with the knitting group. maybe you should knit cool clothes and then you can DEFINITELY justify buying LOTS OF YARN.

Definitely go through your mom's 80s wardrobe! Yumma! (You might take a spin through the fashion ragmags at the library first, for maximum couture).

You'll be out on your own soon. If the self-denial gets you to that goal faster, yay!

I have yarn that is free. If you send me a mailing address, I will send you some of it.

I actually think I may. She was probably about 99 pounds in the 80s, but surely there's something in there...

Truly, I have so much yarn. I am so flattered by your offer, but I would feel so guilty depriving someone of yarn simply because I whined about it on the internet. I should really blog about my massive quantity of yarn. That has the making of a good entry, there...

Also, your icon is perhaps the best I have ever seen on LJ!

How's the job search going? I think once you have a job waiting for you then Dave can help you appartment hunt and then you can go? Is this true or am I being too optimistic?

Well, I'd like to have my current job for awhile! This is what Dave and I are working out now. Ideally, he will get a job, and we will both work and make money for a while, and then we can make the big move. But FB is so lovely and all the people are so nice and it pays so well, it doesn't really makes sense to rush that.

don't get down on yourself for spending... i know that you'd rather live in the dubious meat part of life then at the folks house (i agree, so much so that i'm living in my bf's dorm, sharing a twin bed instead of being at home with my own queen bed and kitchen, etc and i wouldn't give it up for anything)but especially since you're in the situation that you can't have what you want right away (being with Dave)then you are entitled to do something that makes you feel good. And congratulations on the weight loss, i've managed to drop 10 since graduating (20 from my top weight at bobo)another 12 to go to be highschool weight and buying new clothes (even if it is just a sweater or a dress)feels really good. in no way are you an out of contrill spender, so just enjoy it when you DO spend it and keep your head up. also can't you keep the FB job if you move, or is it an actual office (i always pictured you working fom home).

Charlotte! Have you been getting my emails from abroad? What is your current address on the interwebs? On two more or less related subjects, what is Dave's address on the interwebs (and in real life, if either of you desire postcards), and what is your phone number? In a fit of illogic prompted by the Imp of the Perverse I accidentally deleted it from my phone when attempting to call you right before I left and was Sad and Dejected.

Also: Money sucks. Move to Mexico, everything here is stupid ridiculous cheap. No seriously, I eat out, at a decent restaurant, get a huge delicious meal, a good beer, and a campsite nearby, and spend like four dollars. Most food items cost less than one dollar. I intend to live in Mexico more, if only to save money (note: the above does not apply to gasoline, which is pretty expensive, so I guess I'll be walking a lot if I move here).
