I'm feeling slightly off today. And I'm wondering whether one of the reasons is, that if there wasn't a global pandemy ongoing, I would be at
FedCon right now. Yesterday evening would have been the "Feek-club party", where some of the actors probably would have taken part. At previous, similar evening, I got the chance to chat with both Alexander Siddig and Garrett Wang (and probably could have talked to half the cast of the new BSG-series if I had known what to say. I didn't, as I don't actually watch that show.)
At past FedCons, I got to meet with real-life astronauts and chat with them, party with other introverts, did the most stupid fandom-related activities, and also got real-life ESA-scientists to explain the current and planned missions and talk with the programmers who worked on the mars-probe-missions. It's taking photos, standing in line for autographs, but also dancig on the same party floor as Marina Sirtis, standing close to Bruce Boxleitner and Mira Furlan as they talk with ESA-scientists. Getting asked to stay for a beer by Ray Park.
Being on a party with BSG-actors and scientists, and having a senior ESA-scientist explain a shortcut to finally immediately remember what moving-direction leads to a blue-shift. Because while I can get to it with some thinking, of course I messed it up when asking a question in the panel.
And with everything else going on, it's perfectly sensible that it's not happening, I don't disagree. It's just - it got moved the second time now, to october, and there's still so much uncertainty, and it just hit me today.
And since I wanted to post a "I'm still here" entry anyway, so this is it.
