How'd you do the prepwork?

drew it up on the computer, edited it block-by-block until it looked good, then ordered the packs of pieces and backing plate through the lego company.

well no, because people have made art out of LEGOs before. i.e. White Stripes video and before that i'm sure. so i can't claim complete originality, but yaknow...
