Fixed up Sadiq's secret
OOC;
Name: Rosie
Age: 19
Experience: I've been roleplaying for a while now; Hetalia for the past year-ish. Sadiq is usually my main man to play C:
E-mail: marth_heart_heart@hotmail.com
Both my AIM and MSN share that exact same email/username. FYI.
IC;
Nation: Türkiye
Name: Sadiq Adnan
Nickname(s): "Old man" by some of the younger brats around town, usually with "hairy," or "fat" added on. He doesn't care about the nicknames he is given, but he rather enjoys handing them out himself.
Age: 36
Date of birth: October 29, 1976
Hometown: Istanbul, Turkey
Occupation: Bartender (and sometimes bouncer if the situation calls) at the Winchester
Residence: The Charleston
Family: His immediate family still resides in Turkey for the most part, but he rarely visits them. Sadiq's mother is Sanem Adnan, and his father is Adem Adnan, but they aren't an important part of his life as of right now. As an only child, he obviously has no siblings
Muunokhoi Borjigin is his a cousin of his, his grandfather having married a Mongolian woman. He isn't necessarily close to the guy, but Moon did visit his home in Turkey as a child -- most often, the adults leaving Sadiq to care for the brat who was always trying to break things. Sadiq tries to deny his Mongolian blood, but it's there.
First impression: Is he angry, or is he just looking for an excuse to make a competition of this?
Facts
i. Sadiq grew up as a spoiled brat, and this upbringing still shows through as an adult. He was the kid who was always pushing the other ones off of the swings and turning the monkey bars into a prison. Of course he didn't usually hurt people, as he liked to think of himself as a friendly, but strict ruler of the playground. He was known to use unnecessary force anyway; that is to say, he didn't have many friends growing up.
ii. The mask Sadiq wears isn't there for the looks. If anything, he adopted it into his style for the practicality, which was mainly for the fact that it offered not only protection, but also a sort of emotional barrier. He finds it better suited for his intimidating stature anyway, mostly to scare off the annoying kids he comes across between intervals. Without this accessory, the Turk has grown to feel almost self-conscious, as if one can read him like an open book - and he isn't comfortable with that. And so, he rarely lets anyone see the person beneath the mask.
iii. It's not something he likes to discuss or share, but Sadiq is a brilliant chef, and he actually enjoys spending time in the kitchen. This is only something he'll partake in if he is alone, however. If there is the rare occasion that he brings someone into his apartment, the man will most likely not acknowledge the kitchen, and order out instead.
His favorite thing to cook is Ashure (on the off chance that he feels like spending the two days to make it). Not really important, but Sadiq also puts yogurt on just about everything he makes, and is often eating in plain as a snack.
iv. Sadiq isn't so short-tempered as he is simply... competitive. If he loses at something, he will damn sure try again and again to kick your ass at it until he succeeds. This quality comes across as rude or pushy at times, but it's just a matter of pride to him. Shatter that inflated ego, and he will not be satisfied until it is again repaired.
v. Growing up in Turkey, one of the more open-minded countries of the near east, Sadiq has a rather modern outlook at life, but there will always be exceptions to the rule. He is secular, being one that doesn't practice any one religion, but he does recognize Allah - though he wont go out of his way to make his God happy. After all, with a colorful and temperamental language like his, one can't expect much from his beliefs.
Sadiq definitely isn't completely open-minded. Homosexuality is an awkward subject to him, and he has been known to share some crude words. That isn't to say that he's perfectly straight (whether he realizes it or not), but he will always deny any accusations outright, and probably beat it into you if necessary. Basically, he's a closeted fool. Also is his ignorant opinion that women should be in the kitchen making him sandwiches.
vi. While he has completed his education in Turkey (graduating as a Performing Arts major, believe it or not), he was bored of his homeland and wanted to take his skills to the US as soon as he turned 25. At current, Sadiq works as a bartender -- sometimes bouncer -- at the Winchester, and is quite satisfied there. Though he acts like a jerk sometimes, he loves talking to people who respect him reciprocate jovial conversations, and actually loves to show off what he can do. While a performer in college, his skills consisted mainly of physical things, such as wrestling and acrobatics of a sort. Don't get it in your mind that he liked to act per se, because Sadiq is bored mindless from theater.
vii. Living in the States for eleven years, Sadiq rarely slips into his native tongue, since there really isn't a need to do so; also because Turkish isn't as well-known as some of the more popular languages (French or Spanish, for example). His accent is there, but it's hardly of note, since he has since then managed to slip into a "younger," city dialect.
viii. Sadiq is very proud to be called a Turk. You can insult him all you want, and he'll happily throw cruel words back, but do so to his country and people in general, and he will get a bit more physically persuasive. He'll laugh at "asshole." But if you mock Turkey and it's history, and he'll give you a piece of his mind.
ix. He hates cats, and will happily throw them through the window of a ten-story building. This is partially because of a certain Greek brat he knows by the name of Heracles, and partially because he is mildly allergic. He has little to no patience with the fluffy felines, particularly as they rub on his leg or climb into his lap when he doesn't want them too, and more-so when he's tripping over them trying to get anywhere. Sadiq equally dislikes reptiles, the nasty pests that they are, but will put up with them if tamed. He's really just a dog person, if he had to choose.
x. Since moving to Liberty, one of Sadiq's favorite places to visit has undoubtedly been the Tatiana Baths. For such a brute, one doesn't expect him to spoil himself with sweet treats and hot baths in his free time, but the truth is that he enjoys unhealthy amounts of relaxation and less work. It's a matter of stress or bliss, and he chooses the latter.
xi. Sadiq has an extensive collection of sabers. He mainly keeps them mounted on the wall for decoration, but might also enjoy just how they tend to scare people off. This is just another one of Sadiq's hobbies, dabbled in alone during his free time; the art of sword fighting.
Secret
He doesn't really talk about it much, but Sadiq's family is loaded. That is, they are rich and don't seem to be on the verge of running out of cash anytime soon. That would be partially why the man possess so much nice pottery and artwork around his otherwise shabby appartment (if you are lucky enough to be invited in), and how he managed to collect such a fine display of old swords and sabers. In no way is he boastful about it; in actuality, Sadiq prefers to remain rather average. Working at a bar, maintaining a middle-class income... He definitely doesn't splurge either, so one has to be pretty clever to work beneath his layers to find the riches he really possesses.
To make a long story short, Sadiq's family is directly related to one of Turkey's last sultans. If this was the time of Ottomans, he'd be a prince.
