The hell?

Ok, so I was taking pictures of my apartment for a friend of mine, just to prove to him we have a lot of stuff. After uploading the pics, I noticed that... there was something extra in one of them.

Cut for F-pages and Non-believers )

ghost pics, spirit orbs, wtf

Possible, but I can usually tell when the grandparents are around. This doed explain why Luggage will sometimes act all cautious and suspicious of nothing. Kinda like a cat.

This was a digital camera and not a film one?

Yup. Which is weird, since I didn't think digi cams could pick up this kind of thing. But nothing else showed up on the other shots.

Digital cameras especially, reasonably priced ones, can and do ship from the factory with a number of known defects. The most noticeable of these 'acceptable' defects are 'bad' or 'stuck pixels which always return black, white or a particular color for a value.

Also common but less noticeable are clusters of 'hot' or 'dim' pixels which sometimes report values significantly darker or brighter than the rest.

More notably, these are only noted as quality defects if they appear constantly or reliably, where as the problem is usually of a more intermittent nature.

My diagnosis is just a perfectly simple technical bug in the camera. Even if the problem isn't repeatable, it's kind of the nature of digital devices to have unexplainable and unreproducible errors from time to time.

Though don't let me rain on your parade if you have reason to think it's supernatural in nature.

Not rained on at all, luv. I know the types of flaws that can explain these kinds of anomalies in film, I just never knew there were ones for digital cameras as well. Only gives me more reason to keep looking and sanpping pix :p
