A common question going around [or so it seems] as of today is "Did you see the July Fourth Fireworks?".
Actually, I saw them a day early. [I spend July Fourth working on homework. Sad, eh?]
On the third, the fam and I went to an A's vs Toronto game.
Alright, so after summer school and spending some time sleeping [finally!], mom and I went to go pick up Akhil from his Nerdapolooza. I mean, from camp. [where, btw, they teach SAT to middle schoolers. I mean, wtf?]
From there we met Dad at Starbucks. I had an orange mocha frappucino and an apple fritter. Yumm.
Then we all went to the game. I just listened to music on the way there. The game was [Oakland] A's vs [Toronto] Blue Jays. And of course, the parking lot was full of smoking people and their pre-game barbecues, the former of which the smell was actually stronger. *wrinkles nose*
Even just walking through the parking lot was kinda fun. That and laughing at people wearing old jerseys. [Not only did I see Zito and Tejada, but one guy wore an old A's McGwire jersey!] And some people had the nerve to show up it Giants [eew] jerseys. Oh and I saw an emo guy in the line. [gasp!]
{for those who don't know: McGwire was traded in 97, Tejada a couple years back, and Zito this year. That and most people who show up at A's games are... well I'll just say he's the first emo I've seen there}
Anywhoozits, the game started around 7 but by the time we got to our seats it was around 7:15. We were in section 105 [foul side of right field near the pole] row 20, so pretty good seats. The sun was in our eyes for a while tho but it was down before the second inning was over.
Random thought: you know the pictures they show of each player on the big screen before they bat? Well I thought they look a little too serious, so I thought it'd be funny if they used myspace-esque angle pics. Blame the sugar. >.<
At the bottom of the second, it was bases loaded and Jack Cust [best hitter and DH] at bat. He struck out. Ouch.
In the third inning I had a chili cheese dog and in the eigth I had a malt. One of them made me sick the next morning. [two guesses which one] And in the seventh inning stretch, there was the good ol "Take me out to the ball game". :D
In the end, A's won 3-1. I'm quite pleased. Oh, and Swisher, I think it was, hit a homer. Yay! :D
Anyway, between the game and the fireworks, the staff threw beach balls into stands where the audience sat. Yknow, just to keep us busy. When it came to where we were, I was finishing eating something, so my hands were full and it hit me in the side of the head. >.<
Then we saw the fireworks and I let my brother take pictures since he complains that he never gets to. Even if half of his pictures he deleted later, which wasted a lot of battery, meaning he didn' get to attempt to snap candid pictures of me on the way home.
Me: Yeah but that's no surprise, the A's always win the July Fourth home game.
Mom: *jokingly* I think they bring over the teams that suck for the July Fourth games just to say they won it. [not exact wording]
Me: But what about Toronto? They lost their July Fourth game! Oh wait...
Yeah had a ditz moment there xP
Alright, so a few rows in front of us, there were these girls that were in maybe fifth grade or so, right? Well these were the types that would fake over enthusiasm because they wanted so bad to get on camera. Every time you could see the camera scanning the crowd, they'd jump up and down and screech at the top of their lungs. Basically, attention/camera whores. Remember the beach ball thing I just told you about? Well it got relatively close to where they were. And when it did, they kept shouting "Throw it here! Throw it here!". I had to restrain myself from saying 'Quit being such an attention whore and maybe they will. Otherwise, do us all a favor and shut the fuck up.'
Seriously...
And then there was the leader of their little group, who was the whiniest, most spoiled of them all. She wanted cotton candy, she screams at the cotton candy guy to come to where she was. Nevermind that he was with someone at the moment and she could have just walked up to him herself. And when the beachball finally came near their little group of kiddies, all her friends joined and whacked it in unison. Away from her, no less. Not intentionally, of course, but it was funny. :D
And then of course there was this creepy college guy who kept looking at me every time I spoke. >.<
All in all, an interesting day.
Oh yess, I finally finished the profiles for Ofelia [from Pan's Labyrinth] and Stephanie Lopes and submitted them to Evolutionary Imperative, where they were accepted. :D
Tell me if you want to check it out.
Oh, and my newest charrie on Sky Hype is already making friends! I'm so proud! *sniffles*
That and Tina, David, and Virginia have been reactivated!
