A Russian, an Irishman, and an English expatriate walk into a  club ...Only Moriarty  and Moran knew the true names of the three special guests that would be joining the larger party with them. He'd introduce Lucy to them as they came up on their own initiative. For now, it would be better if they slipped inside the Club and made their way without ( Read more... )

To make a show, he bid on a priceless vase. He'd probably use it for target practice in a fit of boredom. He won a few other items as well, including a bracelet for Lucy. It was forever and a day before the first item in question, the rare Klimt was put on the block. The bidding was furious, with his bidder doing double time to lock a top bid and win the day. Whitmore didn't look pleased, as he wanted that painting, but was clueless as to who the hell the elderly gentleman was. The silver bars representing the parcel of slave labor was close to being outbid but that too was locked in and won.

The gold bars, standing in for the enormous arms shipment that Ian had wanted was close to being outbid by one of the persons of interest that he had put on a list for Moran. He sent a text to his already overworked tiger hunter to do his thing to sway the overachieving bidder, whatever his said thing was.

"Just so long as you don't get bored with it. " Jim cracked neck muscles lightly as he spoke.

"Not particularly, but if it takes too long, I'll end up giving you that favor unasked for ahead of time. That happens sometimes and it almost always works in the other person's favor." It was his unique and charming way of saying no when he really meant that yes, there was a time limit but don't pester me about it now.

"Well perhaps there is something, now that I think about it, but now is not the time to discuss it. It's getting late," she said, quickly. "There'll be time enough to talk about this sort of thing another day."

"Yes it is and yes we will, I assure you. Have you got all your goodies?" Referring to the bracelet and the items she came in with, he holds out his arm invitingly.

"Oh yes, thank you," she replied, the bracelet was already around her wrist, she wanted to show it off to the bimbos, She put her clutch bag under her arm, accepts the invitation to link arms with him, and they head out.

After they leisurely stroll from bar to the lobby, he texts Moran. Silence for a moment and then a loud burst of laughter in response to Moran's reply. He gives Lucy a look to assure it wasn't about her. But some things just didn't translate in the Jim's sense of humor vs the rest of the world scheme of things. The moment had passed without comment and he squeezed her shoulder before pulling a fast kiss full on the mouth.

"Moran will be at the front waiting. Any requests for drop off? Normally, I assume a night cap would be in order but this just isn't the time or place. Perhaps when I am back in London, you may call me up if you wish." It was not an assumption or a question.

Lucy was a little alarmed with herself for indulging in the kiss so readily and without pretence, but she said nothing about it. She smiled at him, "I think we'll be seeing more of one another once we get back to England. I'm happy to be dropped off at my hotel for tonight, thank you."
She didn't bother to tell him where that was, she was certain he must already know.

"You're welcome." She tasted ready but not quite. Even at this time of night, it was rather warm. Cold most likely to natives, but those from his and Lucy's climate, it would be rather pleasant. They were seconds away from the outer door, arm in arm when he spied their limo in the transport queue.

Lucy went with him to the car and got in, suddenly feeling quite tired and ready to go home. She slid onto the back seat and crossed on leg over the other, reclining to hold her wrist out and admire her bracelet again.
