Title: Perfection
Length: one page
Genre: Poetry
LJ Cut:

I ask them to take perfection
and throw it out into the streets
like a rowdy drunk from a crowded bar
or press an ear against its unbeating heart.

I say drop a pin in to its trousers
and watch it stroll with painful confusion
or walk inside it's structured mind
and swim through the cold certainty.

I want them to undress it from its flawlessly pressed clothes
of faith, confidence and assurance
and give it a tattered jacket with a park bench to call home.

But all they want to do
is worship it's clever and never tiresome sermons
and adore its unspoiled personality.

May they come upon it one rainy night,
to find out how ghastly and unkempt it can be.
